See my post #59....I agree
Perdogg,
I am going to introduce another variable to the consideration. Since you don’t drink coffee yourself, what do you want sitting out taking up counter space all the time?
If you have lots of counter space and don’t mind an electric coffee maker sitting out then by all means put out an electric drip cone filter machine like a Krups. If however, you don’t want something sitting out all the time then get a large French Press, leave it in a cabinet except when you need to use it. Then stop by the store and buy good whole bean arabica beans, grind it for peculator or heavier and make French Press. Keep just enough on hand for one or two pots and get fresh ground when you use it.
Yep, that’s perfect. Works if the sisters are coffee snobs, too.
I found with the Keurig that you need to find a brand of pod that works for you and stick with it. I use the Newmans Own Special De-Caf. When my daughter visits with her fiance, they like their coffee with caffeine, so they recommended that I get them Timothy's Italian Blend.
I vote for French Press. Bodum is the only one I’m familiar with, I have the one cup size and a 4 cup for camping by Coleman made of stainless steel. (1 dollar yard sale find)
Target is the only brick and mortar around here that has the Bodum brand, Google turned up this

They make several sizes.
I have a small Keurig that I just love. The nice thing is that it is literally mistake-proof, and the types of coffee are limited only by what’s available where you shop.
I recommend that Keurig to everyone, and you can even by tea for it. If you like iced tea and/or coffee, just brew a cup and stick it in your fridge.
THAT is the first and foremost question, because ALL coffee is made with water, heated POS and the element will deteriorate faster with untreated well water as opposed to city
I've made coffee for about a hunnert years and they ALL work the same ... even $8 cheapo's from WalMart ....
I live rural and treat my cheapo every week or so with a cup of white vinegar .... my $8 cheapo lasts about 6 - 8 months before it can't be cleaned any more
ALWAYS USE HOT WATER TO FILL YOUR MAKER .... THE CALCIUM IS MOST ALMOST GONE IN YOUR PIPES BEFORE IT HITS YOUR HEATING ELEMENT !!!!
We still have a couple coffee brewers from. Our wedding days.. 30 years ago. Sell em to ya cheap
MR. Presto is ready when you are. :-)
Its not the coffee maker its the coffee. Buy a cheapo at the grocery store then buy good beans like Dunkin Donut or Seattle’s Best or Starbucks. Grind the beans yourself. A grinder is about $15.
Ditto. Glad to hear someone else thinks so.
In the morning I need the full measure for the jolt but the rest of the day I make it half-strength or less and everyone thinks it’s much better coffee than their usual.
PS: I buy Eight O’Clock coffee or Yuban Columbian, and both are excellent, and not too expensive as K-Cup coffees go.
My wife and I love good coffee in the morning.
For over a decade we have used the Cuisinart auto coffee maker. You fill and set it at night. The next morning at the desired time, it grinds the coffee beans and brews the coffee. We use water from our Britta and Costco’s premium coffee, which is prepared by the big coffee house, Starbucks.
You can brew a pot or 1-4 cups which is often enough.
However, you might want to buy a basic Keurig and let your sisters do their own cup in a minute or so.
Brita filtered water takes out chemicals and enhances the coffee flavor.
Especially for occasional small quantities.

In the case of two ladies, you might need more than coffee.
The great mystery of the Order of the Coffee Brewers, is known to Mr C4E. I leave all things coffee in his knowledgable and trustworthy priestly hands. I am merely one if the recipient vestals. I can be if no help here. I m sorry.
Bingo! We have our winner here. A French Press make sublime coffee.
There's no WAY I could possibly afford that!
