Windows 10 is almost here and since Windows 7 and 8.1 users will be allowed to upgrade to the new OS without paying a single cent, usage of these two versions increases on a daily basis.
Statistics provided by Net Applications show that Window 7 has reached a market share of 60.98 percent in June 2015, obviously remaining the number one desktop operating system in the whole world.
Windows 8.1 is second in this list with 13.12 percent, while Windows XP is still being used by 13.12 percent of the PC owners across the world. Windows 8 has dropped even more to 2.90 percent, while Windows 10 keeps gaining share despite the preview tag, but it only reached 0.16 percent last month. The main reason for Windows 7’s growth

I liked Windows 7 and was reluctant to upgrade to 8.1. Once I did though, I was pleasantly surprised. Luv the quick bootup time.
company IT has 6000 laptops and desktops running 7 with all sorts of apps and citrex tied in. they are a MS supported company and even they can’t get past 7.
You're one of the lucky ones. I will guess you'll be even happier with Win10. It's got all the good things about 8.1, and adds back some of the good things about 7 that were originally lost when they went to 8.
People who liked 8.1 are generally VERY happy with Win10.
A lot of people didn’t like the interface, especially the lack of a Start button. But you can download a free Windows 7 shell to restore that (which is what I did the first day). After that, no worries (and I am a heavy PC user).
How secure is Win10 though? I’m hearing that they share your network key info with other parties. Not sure exactly what they are referring to but that sounds like that’s what they’re saying.
A lot of people that absolutely hated 8/8.1 seem to be happy with 10, also.
These statistics are based on web browsing. So if Windows XP is running on a point-of-sales system, it won’t be counted, since cash registers don’t browse the web.

There are work-arounds you can use with Windows 8 that allow one to get it to function almost the same as Windows 7. Which is how I was able to get my dad set up to where he could use it.
I know this isn’t really accurate in many ways, but to me Windows 8 makes a $600 laptop feel like you are using a $200 Android Tablet. I have been using Android tablets and phones for a long time now and still do not like the OS very much. I refuse to use Apple products because I am still disgusted with their predatory legal department tactics and their ultra-liberal leadership.
Not that Microsoft is a whole lot better, but at least Bill Gate’s has admitted that solar and wind power could not do the job. At least Microsoft has some adults still at the helm, so I don’t feel bad supporting their products.
The free upgrade offer is only good for the first year after W10 goes RTM. Microsoft says W10 is going to be the last Windows release, so this could be the last opportunity they'll have to make money on selling upgrades for awhile. I expect that upgrade won't be cheap and the people who just want to hang onto 7 forever may regret not taking that offer when they had the chance.
LOL! That's just about right, in my experience too.
When I have to work on a Win8 system at my job, where we can't use any of the "strap-on" accessories (like Classic Shell) that make it work sanely, I just pretend I'm on a toy phone instead of a computer. It keeps my blood pressure a little lower... :-)
7 rocks. They’ll have to pry it from my cold, dead hard drive ... or at least until MS stops supporting it.
True... and also systems on isolated networks like the military, where there are still hundreds of thousands of XP machines that OUR TAX DOLLARS are paying for continuing security updates for from Microsoft for MILLIONS OF DOLLARS PER YEAR.
