Long term amnesia is incredibly rare. Typically amnesia is partial and just lasts a few days. Lots of cases of fake amnesia, though.

I have Amnesia every year when our wedding Anniversery and my wives Birthday comes around, its happened every year for 35 years but my wife forgives me every year [ I always make it up to her].

I was in a car crash that killed my mother at age 6. I never got that memory back. I am 54 this Oct.
