You could add Ferdinand Marcos, Erich Honecker, Wojciech Jaruzelski, Idi Amin, Saddam Hussein, Walter Ulbricht, Nicolae Ceaușescu, and others who ruled as despots and dictators when many of us were growing up. And what would really get them is that Obama did not need things like martial law or the Berlin Wall or the 1983 massacre of Kurds or thousands of Ugandans tortured or killed in the 1970s to control people the way he does with Hollyweird or the gay community or "The View" or promising young people a free lunch.
