Rocker Courtney Love was left terrified when she was caught up in angry demonstrations in France on Thursday as protesters attacked her car during a drive into Paris.
Love took to Twitter.com to explain that the car she was traveling in was ambushed as cab drivers blocked roads leading to and from the city's airports in a stand against taxi app Uber. Love claimed the driver was held hostage and the car was beaten with metal bats before they escaped by jumping on motorcycles, while they were also pelted with rocks by protesters and ignored by police.
She used the microblogging site to scold French president Francois Hollande for the lack of law enforcement amid the crisis and even likened the protest environment to conflict-ravaged Baghdad in Iraq. The singer also aimed a message at fellow musician Kanye West, who reportedly stayed within the airport to avoid facing the protesters.
She writes, "Dude... Kanye West we may turn back to the airport and hide out with u (you). Picketers just attacked our car Paris Uber strike... They've ambushed our car and are holding our driver hostage. They're beating the cars with metal bats. This is France? I'm safer in Baghdad... Francois Hollande where are the f**king police? Is it legal for your people to attack visitors? Get your a** to the airport. Wtf (what the f**k)?... Paid some guys on motorcycles to sneak us out, got chased by a mob of taxi drivers who threw rocks, passed two police and they did nothing."

So....... Don’t go there.
I am so sick of these union thugs. They want to earn higher wages by preventing competition. The taxi driver’s union (formal or informal) can’t handle the competition from Uber which is more efficient. My daughter uses Uber exclusively when needing a taxi. What she likes is that there is a record of which driver gets assigned to give her the ride, so it is safer than hailing a random taxi on street.

I have a mini-van, and I’m seriously thinking about becoming a Uber driver.
My main issue with Uber is insurance. A casual acquaintance of mine is an Uber driver. The fact that this guy was acceptable to Uber, gave me cause for concern.
Take away line on this guy's character:
"My landlord is after me for the rent cause I am six months behind. Hell, he doesn't need the money, he's rich."
If you have a passenger car, and time on your hands to earn some money, Uber driver is a good option. Best luck to you.

First, Uber is supposed to do a background check on the drivers. Second, so long as the driver has no criminal record, his financial situation should not matter to the passenger.
