I could make that argument for much of Christian history. Until fairly recently in terms of 2000yrs, a history drenched in blood and crusade. Oppression and hatred for those who didn’t follow the orthodoxy.
Any religion has the chance to go toxic. Christianity did then, Islam now. Maybe the UK historian who said recently Islam is in its ‘middle ages’ is correct, maybe and hopefully it can come out of this horrible time and like Christianity, regain peace. Sadly not in our lifetime though.
We HAVE to fight this war as much to cleanse the religion of Islam of its toxicity as we do to protect ourselves. Islam is not going away, so it needs to be cleansed by force and death if necessary of its hateful elements.
Most of the violence you speak of has been from the Catholicism sect of Christianity, which is a mixture of Babylonian paganism and Christian teachings. That's why Catholics burned bibles in the past, they knew they had little to do with God's Word. True Christianity has been the Rock spoken of by Jesus, one having the Holy Spirit, knowing that Jesus is the Son of God, and trying to do as the bible teaches. It's not Queen of Heaven Semiramis boloney, praying to saints boloney, dressing up like fish-god Dagon miter boloney, vicar of Christ boloney. That has always been the gall of bitterness as Peter himself told Simon Magus, Magus being the true founder of Catholicism, where we get our word "Magic".
In the Koran, Islam is at war with all those who are not Islamic.
