I've Been A Bit Quiet Lately
Free Republic ^ | 28 June 2015 | Windy

I haven't been commenting much lately because my mind is simply on overload right now. I'll bet yours is, too.

About all I can say is that, now isn’t the time for me to ramble, but to digest, contemplate, plan, and prepare.

I’ve spent years at this forum spilling my guts and taxing my synapses. The exchange of viewpoints with others, and even the verbal fisticuffs, has been rewarding in many ways for me.

But recently something’s taken hold of me that’s hard to explain. I guess I’ve quieted down due to the storm clouds I see gathering on the horizon. The low rumble of thunder is just barely heard, but I feel it in my bones. I’ve stepped back from the roundtable, and am now intently gazing at what approaches from the far distance. I can’t take my eyes off it. It’s distracted me from the hearty and boisterous conversation around me.

I’m obviously not the only one who notices, but unlike most, I’m having a hard time talking about it. My survival instincts are kicking in, and all I can seem to think about is doing what I must, to protect my family and myself.

Well, enough with the poetry. I know you get my drift.

I still harbor a great deal of hope that we can propel a conservative champion into the White House in 2016, and help to end our collective nightmare. I've become convinced that Ted Cruz is the one person who has the capacity to unite the good and decent people of this country, and that he's a man who has the requisite courage and backbone to do what must be done to rein in our tyrannical government. I am backing him 100%, and will do everything in my humble ability to see that he becomes our nominee.

For one, Ted is the very first candidate I’ve ever sent money to. Considering the fact that I’ve been voting since 1972, that’s saying something. The way I see it, this is our very last chance to steer the ship of state away from the rocks before she finally crashes, and I have got to do what I can, to avoid what will surely follow, should we fail. I do not want to look my teenaged children in the eyes in a few short years, and say, “I’m sorry kids. You shouldn’t have to risk your lives to save your country, but my generation was just too weak to keep things from coming to this.”

Although it’s incumbent upon me to stay up to date on the tragic unraveling of America, I’m doing my best to not become completely overwhelmed by the course of events. I’ve got a business to run and a family to provide for. That comes first, above all else. That, I will do, but more and more, I look to the Founders for guidance in these bleak and horrible times. Their personal stories, and the examples of heroism they provided, give me hope and strength to carry on in the face of a tyranny they would recognize at once.

In the past, I’ve prayed that our generation would not be called upon to earn our freedom as our forefathers of the 18th century did, but more and more, it appears that that hope is vain. Every day, a new page of history is printed, which in retrospect, will prove that our darkest fears were right on the mark, and that we were right to posit that this generation would either fail, or would pass the greatest test a people can face. I think we can agree that such thoughts are becoming more crystal clear by the day.

I was just telling my wife today, that I wish we could just pick up and move to our rural dream home. Right now.

If only it were possible. I need that solitude and sense of safety. Alas, it’s not to be — at least not for several more years — that is, if things in this country can even hold together.

One saving grace is that I’m in the great state of Texas. As I’ve often told my wife, if things in America go completely sideways, we’ll be safe here, because if (God forbid) the S does HTF, things will straighten up in Texas overnight, as the good men of this state WILL stand tall, and they WILL do their ancestors proud. My certainty about that outcome is just as strong as my gut certainty about the horrific trajectory of current events in this country.

I think every thinking patriot on FR is on the same page with this. It would be a wonderful thing if the ‘other side’ would simply let us be, but they won’t. They’re going to continue pushing until something breaks. It’s just how they roll.

In my heart, I honestly feel pity for them, because when they finally light the match on that prairie fire, no power on God’s green earth will be able to put it out.

We are living in toxic times.
The entire world has had a position on marriage for millennia, that has has been put into a tail spin.

That is just the latest abrasion to the fabric of America.
The Markets are about to tank IMHO
We have Gov that is promoting Pot to the people and then busting them for using.
WTF happened this week? some tranny rips all over the Preezy of the united Steszy and he gets all petulant about what he put in motion.

He has started the spring of anarchy.

GTF out of our lives!

Where is there to go? Europe is falling into itself now and will eventually usher in even more chaos over there....

It is getting frightening

Meanwhile,ISIS is growing, even within our borders. I don't know that I blame Obame alone for the sorry state of the world but he owns the lions share. What a pitiful leader,or Glorious leader depending on your perspective.

A move to Texas would be nice, but unlikely for me and mine. We’re “behind enemy lines” in Massachusetts and we’re staying. The nearest thing we have to a “red state” is New Hampshire but that state was corrupted by Massholes years ago.

Beware all those California refugees, Texas. They may be escaping a Socialist hellhole but they bring their brainless liberalism with them into the voting booth. Before you know it, their disease has spread.

Big trouble is coming to America, no question about it. Prepping is more than important right now; it is critical. But part of your preparation regimen needs to be social. Talk to your friends, your neighbors, town employees and private groups, especially church groups. A basement full of bullets, beans and bandages is nice but you will need allies and fellow Wolverines in the hard times ahead. Prepare ... and organize ... with the worst in mind.

Is this the end of America? Absolutely not! Our nation has an inner strength that has never been revealed. God still loves us, at least for a little while longer, or He would have levelled us like Sodom & Gomorrah by now.

Yep.

Amos 5:13 Therefore the prudent shall keep silence in that time; for it is an evil time.

This place is good therapy, no doubt.

We know who we are and dont want, or need the Government to validate us.

My faith in God will not be shaken (They’ll have to kill me to break me.) !!

I dont think its as bad as its gonna get.

I feel pretty much the same as you and don’t know what to do about it. I did put a tag line behind my name yesterday for the first time since I since I signed up in 1998, lurked since 1997.

I need 5 more prosperous years to retire, then we can meet for breakfast and coffee everyday, read the paper and lay our plot ☺

You are correct. All I want to be is just left alone, but they are not going to do that. I was hoping that I would be dead and gone before things really went south. But it looks like that is not going to be the case. All I can say is that I have made peace with my Maker long ago and I will not go into Hillary's, Obama's, or anyone else's camp. In fact, I won't reach the road from my house. It won't be in a blaze of glory, I will just be filled full of Government lead.

It is the curse of inherited wealth. Those who receive what they did not earn are destined to squander it. Basic human nature at work here.

There's no running for me.

Me either. I plan on making them earn my hide. I am under no illusion that when they decide to come after it, they will get it because the advantages are all with them. But I will do the best I can.

Couple of points. Ferfal pointed out that being in the boondocks wasn’t safe. You may be armed to the teeth but roving bands of pirates can surround you and wait you out. He pointed out the ranchers in his country met particularly gruesome fates. A la South Africa.

Texas has always been a bit of a foreign country for me, growing up in the ‘50s and ‘60s in that corner of New Mexico that is embedded in it. Having long hair at the time I avoided Texas and Texans as much as possible. In my “seniority” I have adopted values and principles much more in line with those Texans proclaim but there are still things about Texas that give me pause. This “nine dead in Waco” being one.

I will say, 15 years ago when I was begging my wife to leave here and go to Switzerland or New Zealand or anywhere we might be welcome with our firearms she dug in her heels firmly. I have worked myself to near death turning this place into someplace we might have a hope of surviving in. Fencing, rain water harvesting, emergency fuel, generator, gardens, etc. yesterday she tells me,”Maybe we should move to Texas.”. Here I been knocking myself out building a “life raft” that ain’t obvious from the street and in one day she decides maybe Texas. It was too much.

This is an epic thread, thanks. Hubby pointed it out to me, he is a lurker. It is going to get a lot worse in our opinions, as the left will keep pushing hard. It’s been a dark week and satan is happy. But we need to remember God is in charge and permitting all this. We just don’t know why. For now we feel more galvanized to our faith and are not afraid to speak out.
