I've Been A Bit Quiet Lately
Free Republic ^ | 28 June 2015 | Windy

Posted on 06/28/2015 12:16:00 AM PDT by Windflier

I haven't been commenting much lately because my mind is simply on overload right now. I'll bet yours is, too.

About all I can say is that, now isn’t the time for me to ramble, but to digest, contemplate, plan, and prepare.

I’ve spent years at this forum spilling my guts and taxing my synapses. The exchange of viewpoints with others, and even the verbal fisticuffs, has been rewarding in many ways for me.

But recently something’s taken hold of me that’s hard to explain. I guess I’ve quieted down due to the storm clouds I see gathering on the horizon. The low rumble of thunder is just barely heard, but I feel it in my bones. I’ve stepped back from the roundtable, and am now intently gazing at what approaches from the far distance. I can’t take my eyes off it. It’s distracted me from the hearty and boisterous conversation around me.

I’m obviously not the only one who notices, but unlike most, I’m having a hard time talking about it. My survival instincts are kicking in, and all I can seem to think about is doing what I must, to protect my family and myself.

Well, enough with the poetry. I know you get my drift.

I still harbor a great deal of hope that we can propel a conservative champion into the White House in 2016, and help to end our collective nightmare. I've become convinced that Ted Cruz is the one person who has the capacity to unite the good and decent people of this country, and that he's a man who has the requisite courage and backbone to do what must be done to rein in our tyrannical government. I am backing him 100%, and will do everything in my humble ability to see that he becomes our nominee.

For one, Ted is the very first candidate I’ve ever sent money to. Considering the fact that I’ve been voting since 1972, that’s saying something. The way I see it, this is our very last chance to steer the ship of state away from the rocks before she finally crashes, and I have got to do what I can, to avoid what will surely follow, should we fail. I do not want to look my teenaged children in the eyes in a few short years, and say, “I’m sorry kids. You shouldn’t have to risk your lives to save your country, but my generation was just too weak to keep things from coming to this.”

Although it’s incumbent upon me to stay up to date on the tragic unraveling of America, I’m doing my best to not become completely overwhelmed by the course of events. I’ve got a business to run and a family to provide for. That comes first, above all else. That, I will do, but more and more, I look to the Founders for guidance in these bleak and horrible times. Their personal stories, and the examples of heroism they provided, give me hope and strength to carry on in the face of a tyranny they would recognize at once.

In the past, I’ve prayed that our generation would not be called upon to earn our freedom as our forefathers of the 18th century did, but more and more, it appears that that hope is vain. Every day, a new page of history is printed, which in retrospect, will prove that our darkest fears were right on the mark, and that we were right to posit that this generation would either fail, or would pass the greatest test a people can face. I think we can agree that such thoughts are becoming more crystal clear by the day.

I was just telling my wife today, that I wish we could just pick up and move to our rural dream home. Right now.

If only it were possible. I need that solitude and sense of safety. Alas, it’s not to be — at least not for several more years — that is, if things in this country can even hold together.

One saving grace is that I’m in the great state of Texas. As I’ve often told my wife, if things in America go completely sideways, we’ll be safe here, because if (God forbid) the S does HTF, things will straighten up in Texas overnight, as the good men of this state WILL stand tall, and they WILL do their ancestors proud. My certainty about that outcome is just as strong as my gut certainty about the horrific trajectory of current events in this country.

I think every thinking patriot on FR is on the same page with this. It would be a wonderful thing if the ‘other side’ would simply let us be, but they won’t. They’re going to continue pushing until something breaks. It’s just how they roll.

In my heart, I honestly feel pity for them, because when they finally light the match on that prairie fire, no power on God’s green earth will be able to put it out.

I agree..I’m not ready to give up and I’m 82.

God bless you, Meg. That's what Americans are really made of.

It was my understanding that Texas was being “diluted” by people who ran away from California but brought their liberal, socialist beliefs with them, only to display them in the voting booth with dire effect. If I was wrong in that belief, my apologies.

Locally we have the New Hampshire example, where so many people fled north to escape Taxachusetts and all its problems that once-Republican New Hampshire is now considered a blue state, or purple at best.

I used to live in Utah and now I miss that deep-red feeling.

Another Freeper said it feels like 1859 in a 1938 world. I thought that to be an apt description of the times we live in today.

Damn if that doesn't say exactly what many of us are feeling.

It's why gun and ammo sales have been setting annual records over the last six years.
It's why the Dems lost over a thousand elections in 2014.
It's why we read so much dejected, hand-wringing, doom and gloom on this site.
It's why the red states are experiencing unprecedented levels of in-migration from the blue states.
I think it's also why the left has suddenly popped its cork, and are trying to realize every collectivist wet dream they've ever had.

We all feel a great reckoning of some kind approaching. The world (and this country) simply cannot continue on its present course. We're about to come completely off the rails of civilization. There are simply too many aspects of the culture that are crumbling, to sustain the 'thin veneer' much longer.

It's even hard to talk about this, as my thoughts run like a whirlwind. There are just too many moving pieces. It's difficult to fix my attention long enough on any one issue, to properly think it through, before several other bombs go off around me. And it's become relentless.

We will soon be at odds with our own countrymen to a degree not seen in 150 years.

As much as I'd like to see that possibility pass like a bad dream, I fear that you're right. The enemies of the republic will not let this rest until there's blood running in the streets. They aim to kill off the real American people and replace us with new citizens of their choosing and persuasion.

I think they're going to find that they've bitten off far more than they can chew. In the end, it is they who will feel the sting of crushing defeat. We The People never wanted this fight, but if they intend to have one, then by God, we're gonna finish it.

it is clear that "consent of the governed" is of no consequence to the "powers that be" in Washington, D.C.

The phrase, "the consent of the governed", has been ringing in my ears for days now. My thoughts keep coming back to the fact that The Powers That Be, do NOT have the people's consent to do much of anything they're doing today.

It logically follows, then, that our government has become illegitimate, and that we citizens are duty bound to do whatever it takes to correct or abolish it.

None of us wants to see blood spilled to achieve those ends. In my view, even at this late date, we still can effect the changes we want through massive protests and widespread civil disobedience. Gandhi and MLK used those very same tactics to move entire nations, and so can we.

If we do not do this, then we'll be left with but one option to restore the balance and domestic tranquility we so desire. I truly hope and pray that it does not come to that.

Ah, my miss spent youth. I settled down long ago. I read recently, “Any guy can make love one time to a thousand women it takes a man to make love to one woman one thousand times.”

While I can’t claim the former I can claim multiples of the latter. Next month is 43 years.

Like.

As for the election which is so very far away... May God have mercy, and may it change our course.
Amen.

IT IS THE GOVERNMENT THAT WANTS BLOOD!

Ted Cruz said the next 18 months will be very dangerous. He is extremely correct.
Such an extremist!

That mistaken scenario got started and some people believe it without knowing the truth of all our elected state officials being Republican Conservatives. I worked in our State Republican Party for many years and had contact with numerous state office holders, all of them Republicans as there were no Democrats, and we are still going strong.

Our new Republican Governor, Gregg Abbott, is a giant of a conservative man in his wheelchair. :o)

The 2008 election was the last election that could have stopped the demise of the US.

It’s too late now.

I am un willing to continue to fund the pro abortion pro homosexual government.

I do fear a civil war is coming but also fear is nobody will show up for the war. Nobody seems to give a damn that our great country is being dismantled piece by piece, day by day.

Remember the old phrase, 'the silent majority'? It still exists, and I guarantee you that most of those people are quietly thinking many of the same thoughts expressed throughout this thread.

There's a point at which the pain will become too great for that majority. That is the point when they'll all "show up". When they do, heaven help those who stand on the wrong side of the question.

Great post, Rita. This one line stands out to me:

I am resigned that we will do nothing until our houses are breached.

I've said on many occasions that The People will not stand until the pain and pressure of the current tyranny becomes too great to bear.

For now, most people still enjoy a semblance of normal life, so they remain peaceful. It's only when the 'thin veil of civility' is finally ripped away, that they'll muster together to fight. In my view, that could happen in an instant.

Bless you, dear FRiend. You’ve expressed the thoughts and feelings that many, here, and across this nation, are holding in our own hearts.

Thank you, Jane. It's something that I've been feeling in the air.

There's a certain tension and expectancy that pervades every place I go. There's something just below the surface with nearly everyone I encounter lately, and I'm convinced this is it.

I think people are concluding that we're being pushed toward some historic moment that will not be pretty. Too many once stable portions of our culture are suddenly crumbling, or tilting badly. It seems that the number and frequency of these destabilizations is increasing.

I can't help but think that this is by design, but I believe it's going to backfire. When the people finally do snap, it's going to be too much for anyone to handle.
