More than two dozen churches around the world have installed a facial-recognition system that monitors which members of the flock have actually shown up for the Sunday sermon. The system is called Churchix and was developed by Israeli software company, Face-six. It continually scans the religious center's CCTV feed and matches congregation members to a pre-existing database of their faces -- reportedly with 99 percent accuracy.

"Church events are the church way to interact with its members, and naturally the attendance to those events is very important," Face-Six CEO Moshe Greenshpan told Churchmag. "Event attendance stats help the church to measure the success of each event, see what event types are more popular than others and also track the attendance of specific members." That way, church officials can monitor everything from the gender ratios of attendees at specific events to ensure that elderly or infirmed church-members haven't suddenly stopped coming around.
However, not everybody is praising the Churchix. As Emma Carr, director of Big Brother Watch, told the Mirror UK, "This is a clear example of completely over-the-top use of technology. Churches have managed to note who is in their congregation for hundreds of years without resorting to highly intrusive means."
Yep. and WHY we are there.
I think that would be Shun.
We quite going when the preacher said no bath room calls during service, it was a disturbance, even when you sat in the back pew. I have Gastroparesis, slow motility, and that carries nausea, vomiting, diarrhea that means I need the RR several times before noon. I don’t think he’d of liked it if that went all over the nice carpet in the Sanctuary, or grossing out other people.
They are terrified of a missed offering.
We attended a country church once that was “run” by a domineering preacher & his domineering wife. I finally got enough & skedaddled, without hubby who hadn’t had enough yet. The glamor finally wore off for him; but he had a bit of angst about leaving there. - Preacher & wife are still there & not getting any younger; and I doubt they’ve learned a thing from all their congregants they’ve managed to run off over the years. I don’t know what their game is. - Having said that. Support your Christian churches; or else don’t fuss whenever there’s a church on every corner that’s been sold to Muslims & imams on loudspeakers in a cacophony of “calls to Muslim prayer” contests.
My Records show that hes been in the SECRET PRIVATE MOSQUE IN THE WHITEHOUSE SUB BASEMENT, far FAR more frequently than he has attended a Church!
My records further Identify said mystery parishioner as Barry Mohammed Hussein Soetero Ackbar Obama.
This would probably do well in Germany, where citizens are required to pay a special tax to support whatever their declared religion/church is.
It would catch people who declare “none” but still go to church.
