I don’t know how old you are, but summer on the Jersey shore in the late 60’s through the 70’s - the place Springsteen sings about in his early records - is something I truly wish I could go back in time and experience. As a late Gen Xer, I’m afraid that is one slice of Americana that peaked just before I was born and then died a slow death at the hands of cynicism and caricature.

I used to spend summers in Spring Lake and D'Jais was our favorite place to start the night. Back then, you could get 5 glasses of beer for $1.00 at happy hour. After a few hours there, we'd stumble around the neighborhoods until we found a house party. Loved Belmar in summer.
There was another great bar right on the beach in Belmar. I can picture it but cannot remember the name. That was our daytime spot.
