Hundreds of men, women and children have been abandoned at remote barracks in Canada for 20 hours so far after their United Airlines flight from Chicago to London made an emergency landing.
The passengers were apparently forced to sleep in uncomfortable beds with only two blankets and no heating at Goose Bay barracks on Friday night after landing due to a 'fault' with the aircraft.
They have reportedly been given only two meals, have had 'no word at all' from United Airlines - and two elderly passengers were even 'dumped' at the wrong part of the barracks and left overnight.
But while the passengers remain hungry, cold and 'confused', the crew spent the night at a hotel in Newfoundland and Labrador, passenger Simon Millward told DailyMail.com from the barracks.

Not much different than the experience on board a United International flight. Why I now go ANA whenever possible.
What a bunch of ingrates. Do you know.how much some people pay for remote camping experiences like that.

WOW, that’s pretty bad.
I have a friend who just took United from NJ to CA, she said it was horrible.
No pillow, no peanuts, no nothing. And, you know, it’s like a 6 hour flight, not just a short hop.
She told her husband: I’ll never fly on that airline again, I don’t care how inexpensive it is.
I’ve been through all sorts of travel nightmares.
My first thought would be: Goose Bay? Some sort of barracks? cool! Let’s look around and make the best of this!
Then again that would be an independent thought which most folks these days couldn’t generate unless it came on a Kardashian-themed app.
Who would you prefer to be well rested: the guy keeping the plane from crashing, or the freight? There are some parts of remote Canada where a plane full of people would triple the population, there just might not be that many good beads in the region.
In better times, the MEN on that plane would have made things work and WOMEN would have made do with what there was so that everyone would be comfortable.
But, now all we do is sit and wait for something to be done for us.
I think I’d want my flight crew to be well rested.
We refueled there back in 1989.

I have about 800,000 miles lifetime on United, other than a few minor issues i have been happy with them

Exactly. I traveled international (majority in Asia) for over 20 years for my job. Early on, I was bumped from a UA flight SFO to HKG onto Singapore Air - I never went back. Flown multiple Asian airlines, including ANA, SA, many others, UA could never get close to that. I did fly American for five years to Asia and they weren’t too bad - always business or first. But Singapore was my favorite. Virgin Atlantic to Europe is good - they had the best first I’ve ever seen, complete with in-flight masseuse...thank you, Richard!
I’ve been in Goose Bay a few times during military flights, it is a very cold place. This seems like some pretty extraordinary treatment.
It is also the first place that I ever saw vinegar potato chips.
Reason 72 why I’ve not flown since 1996. I want to control my own destiny.
Might fly again if I decide to leave the US permanently.
united Airlines. Why does this not surprise me?
