somehow, someway somebody will make a post connecting far flung dots connecting Tim Tebow and the Duggers...

They can’t help themselves getting in a shot at Christians...

Is this the thread where people who don’t understand football argue that the only reason Tebow isn’t an NFL starter is because he’s an outspoken Christian?

“Watch him throw,” Kelly said, per CSN Philly. “I think he’s improved.

"Think" is lukewarm praise. I hope he's improved, too.

i’m a Broncos fan. that run of miracle wins in 2011 was a lot of fun. :D

i debated Tebow on Broncos boards at the time. before and after the run of wins. his religious beliefs and presumed political beliefs *ARE* one of the main reasons his detractors mocked him... both on the boards and on ESPN and other places. anyone who says otherwise is full of you know what. some of it is probably also rivals of his college team.

but here’s the reality. Tebow never have those 10,000+ snaps throwing the ball as a drop back passer in HS and college. he did not have the mechanics or polish that NFL GMs want out of their QB. he was always going to be a project. we needed him in Denver sooner than he was ready because we were stuck with Kyle Orton who always quit when the going got tough or the team got to the redzone. the NFL is a “me too” league and trying to insert him into conventional pocket passing system was never going to work in 2011 and that’s what GMs wanted then, so the Broncos changed the system to suit his skills. as a pocket passer, he has no future in the league. that’s why he didn’t stick with NE. his time with the Jets was wasted, since Ryan didn’t want him anyway and he was only used as a gimmick.

what Tebow brings to the table is a winner’s mentality and an ability to improvise and run if need be. but that only matters if teams fear his passing abilities enough to not stack the box.

i wish everyone in the media would leave the kid alone and that he gets an honest shot in Philly. but he needs to have done the work for the past couple of years to get ready to make the best of this opportunity. he’s also inexperienced at reading defenses. in 2011 (his 2nd year), he was tucking it and running or throwing it away when his first read was covered. if you can’t progress through your reads in the NFL, you won’t ever be successful throwing the ball.

so the odds are against him and there are things he has to be able to show he can now do to find a spot in the league, but on a team where the QB is allowed to run, Tebow can be a unique player.

i hope he finds a spot on their roster and that he’s not used just as a gimmick. he’s got a string arm, but his accuracy always suffered due to his mechanics. there was one play where his accuracy was just about perfect though. ;)

Tebow now finds himself with a seemingly supportive coach and the perfect offensive scheme to fit his skill set. Hopefully he will receive a fair shot this time around.

Almost makes a fan look forward to the NFL pre-season. I hope Tebow can play well enough to see action beyond pre-season.

I’d say with Bradford and Butt Fumble, Tebow has a very good chance of starting.
