Whoops! Spanish language version.
I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes and only drank regular Pepsi. Since my diagnosis, I went to Diet Pepsi, then caffeine free Diet Pepsi because I thought it tasted better. Pepsi is supposed to begin using Splenda in their diet soda. I use Splenda to sweeten my lousy two cups of coffee a day. I’ve also baked using the Splenda sugars, and my chocolate chip cookies were just as good as when I use the regular stuff.
Me too.
I remember when they first came out. Had to have them.
I agree totally.
Can’t stand the taste of sugary sodas or drinks...
Just the thought of unsweetened ice tea makes my mouth water.
If you are buying it out I suggest Quik Trip. They have excellent tea.
If you’re really Thirsty, make yourself an Egg Cream.
Very satisfying, a real thirst quencher.
BLASPHEMY!
I could never stomach artificial sweeteners, so I never got hooked on diet soda, but we bought a sodastream a couple of years ago and love it. We carbonate our own water and either drink it plain or add a splash of fresh fruit juice.
Most non-diet soda available in the US is sweetened with high fructose corn syrup. HFCS is worse than sugar...but it’s cheap.
Prior to the 1980s soda had cane sugar. Then they started using HFCS and the obesity rate skyrocketed.
I just came from Costco, where I ate the cheese off a pizza and I had 1/3 of a Polish Hot Dog without the bun.
Can’t stand the taste of white bread, I don’t like tomato sauce and I don’t care for the condiments.
I’ll eat some crust if it’s burnt....
Back when I could eat pizza, Costco had really good slices.
In January of 2010....I gave up sodas entirely, and went to unsweetened iced tea (with a big chunk of lemon). Over the course of roughly three years...other than when I flew or had to sit in a airline terminal....I stayed entirely on tea. I have to admit...I got used to it and it’s made a big difference.
Today? I’ll have maybe one soda a month and consider it a treat. I stick mostly with water or tea, and a morning orange juice. Probably the best decision I’ve made in the last decade. Looking back (I used to drink four Mountain Dews daily)...I’ve come a long way.
I prefer lemon water with some mint leaves mixed in. Better than plain water.
I’ve never drunk “diet” soda.
I’ve been on the “gain 5 lb/year plan” most of my life and reached 340lb (6ft). Many attempts to curb the trend ... a few major bounces. Then I stopped eating anything sweet, mostly to get away from fructose. I have no other diet rules. I’ve been losing five pounds a month for the last six months. I have no urges to eat, and I tend to get restless if I sit for too long — less food, more activity. This goes much farther than the missing sugar calories.
The theory behind the fructose abstinence comes from Dr. Lustig’s “Sugar, the Bitter Truth” video on Youtube.
I have read that artificial sweeteners are not only consciously tasted by the tongue, but also throughout the body by “unconscious” sugar regulating systems. It seems the artificial sweeteners are not metabolically inert, and will effect your appetite and the way your body handles fat and sugar.
The best advice, I think, is to eat what your great grandparents ate.
It’s nice to bend in the middle again.
Actually it is in Italian ROFL
