Vista was beyond awful.

It was well intentioned, but incredibly poorly executed.

Windows 7 is in many ways "Vista, fixed". And it's arguably the best Windows OS ever. I love it.

When I have to use a Vista system I nearly lose my mind all over again.

Vista was pretty bad, to be sure. But the absolute *worst* was ME. That piece of garbage was so poorly executed, they should have never done it at all. Then came XP, which gave them a second chance...

I don’t think I will go for the free upgrade to 10. I am transitioning slowly to Linux . I am not a geek so I don’t just zip through such a transition and I want to keep some of my ancient W95 compatible software like MGI photo but I don’t know how to attach it to Linux.

I kept W2000 until not much was compatible with it any more. I am not eager to jump to the New Thing. If it works and I’m used to it I am not eager to dump it.
