Subway’s U.S. sales last year declined 3 per cent, or US$400 million, falling faster than any other of America’s top 25 food chains. The mega-deli was also knocked back to America’s third best-selling food chain for the first time in seven years.
Subway ascended over the last several decades on the back of broad American tastes, offering a healthy alternative for eaters leery of fast food, and at prices that made it unstoppable during the Great Recession. Even First Lady Michelle Obama praised Subway during a visit last year for “working to get kids excited about eating their vegetables.”

I went to Subway for the first time about 3 months ago.
I ordered a hot pastrami.
When I got it I just laughed when I saw it.
I will never go back.

Fine. I have enough choices elsewhere that I don’t need to take a chance. All I know is that I read the report of them going hallal right here on FR. Why brag about going hallal in US media if it only applies to the UK?
Pass. I’m not that hungry.
I like their sandwiches but I had to steer clear of them after I would get headaches. I would get the simplest ones like turkey and ham. I figure it is the bread ingredients.
There is a Subway in the Walmart where I live and I haven’t eaten Subway since we moved here. I don’t know what they do in there, but half the time I am in the store there is an incredibly foul odor permeating most of the store coming from the Subway. That, and the number of flies around it are why I have had no appetite for Subway in over 4 years now.
We had a Jimmy Johns open up here in the last year. I’ve eaten there a couple of times and been unimpressed. I’ve been more put out since Quiznos went out of business.
I know a guy that used to have a couple of their franchises. He’s glad he got out. Corporate is a pain in the ass to deal with. They mat suck you in with easy to franchise terms, but that’s when the screws come out.
I gave up Subway for Quiznos, then I discovered Jersey Mike’s.

Because good Jewish delis can be found all along I-10, at practically every gas stop...

I suggest staying informed through the Freeper community as a way of avoiding being manipulated with rumors and outright lies.
Most multi-national corporations adapt their business model to the nations in which they operate. Nothing un-conservative about that.
For McDonalds that means avoiding beef in India. It is law of supply and demand plus giving customers what they want.
Like it or not, our nation has business interests in other nations with cultures different from our own.
It is reactionary and not a conservative choice to boycott franchises here because of the choice of some in other countries.
It is a free country (for now), so feel free to eat whatever you like. But I will likewise try to keep people informed so they do not base decisions on false information being spread on THIS SITE.
There are plenty of businesses that do things that are anti-conservative and anti-faith. Personally, I try to be selective about which ones I boycott.

Maybe it’s because they used the mooch as spokespig, or maybe it’s because they make their sandwiches upside down, or maybe they just suck.
I used to go to one of the original stores in Danbury CT. when they removed a triangle from the top of the bread and layer the meat then the veggies. now the veggies are on the bottom i.e. upside down.
When Subway catered a company event, theta sandwiches were slathered with mustard!

Egads, We had Jersey Mike’s cater. It was hideous! No one can make a sandwich anymore.
A lot of the Subways I’ve seen are small counters inside of gas stations that do not look particularly clean. That does not appeal to me.
Lenny’s is better than Subway, but also more expensive. Firehouse is good too.
Lenny’s slices the meat to order, and they use generally better quality meats and cheeses than the others.
I occasionally stop at Subway (since it’s convenient and cheap) and pick up a Spicy Italian untoasted, then add extra cheese to it and bake it at home. Takes longer but tastes better.
Spicy Italian, my favorite also. Italian herb and cheese bread. Yum
Just because Michelle Obama praised Subway during a visit last year doesn’t mean we must boycott the place. We can still eat there a be a Patriot. It would help if they had milkshakes,
I live outside a small town that has four restaurants. One of them is Subway. Then there is a local burger joint, a pizza place and a BBQ place. There are no fancy restaurants. Subway is the best of the four by far. I've never experienced anything but good service and delicious sandwiches when I go there. The salads are good too.
When you don't have many choices, your view of the world changes. I count my blessings we have a Subway close by. Otherwise, the pickings would be slim because the other three places aren't anything to write home about.
Lack of innovation in a competitive marketplace.
Even the burger chains introduce new products. When I saw that the introduced an ‘italian sub’ that had as a condiment ‘italian dressing’, I knew they were heading to tank.
They quit offering some of the best sandwiches that were staples for regulars; I left and so did others. Shameful and pathetic.
I love good pastrami and, yeah, that Subway pastrami was bad: fatty, microwaved, just bad.
But I had a Subway foot long steak and cheese today, loaded with fresh vegetables, and it was definitely good enough to eat. I don’t care about Jarred or the Worst Lady sticking their oars in. Subway is a value: good quality at a low price.
I would say just about every Subway sandwich I’ve ever had was good.
Except for the subs I got outside Six Flags Over Texas and the kiosk in Cancun airport, both of which gave me severe intestinal distress including explosive diarrhea.
