Anyone have any experience with dog calming coats?
one man's opinion...

I'm curious if any Freepers have any thoughts on so called dog "calming coats"/anxiety jackets/"Thundercoats" or whatever they're called. I'd never even heard of the things until a few weeks ago, when I mentioned to a friend that my 18 month old chorkie that I rescued (I named her "Reagan") is absolutely petrified of thunder and lightning. She suggested I try one. Reagan's trembling is such that if I could harness the energy, it would likely power my apartment.

I've got a goofball Lab, very high bred field trial lines. She is just anxious and nervous generally, particularly about riding on the truck. Doesn't seem to care much about thunder (it sounds like shotguns, which means Lotsa Ducks to her).

But the Thundershirt has been a real boon for her on the truck. She still is a little uncomfortable, but she doesn't shiver uncontrollably, pant, or try to dig out of her crate until she wears all the skin off her nose.
