I particularly like Jessica Alba as “Domino”.

She’s good. But there are some other notables as well.

Just understand this video isn’t Taylor Swift’s normal format, so don’t tune her out because of it.

All the best.

I hear you.

Since I teach guitar to little girls, I have found TS’s earlier work to be a fertile source of songs that have easy chord sequences, lyrics about adolescent love and heartbreak, and nice, singable melodies. As a result, they are a fast track to getting girls to be able to sing and play guitar at the same time, and add quickly to their repertoire of Rock, Classic Rock, Country, and Pop tunes. Taylor Swift’s songs joined those of the Beatles, The Stones, CCR, The Eagles, and other “Guitar-Driven” music, and added greatly to these children’s musical palate and self-esteem. Now that she has “graduated” to hip-hop and sequence-driven music, the kids have totally lost interest in her and are exploring the guitar(or piano)-driven music of Bruno Mars, Ed Sheeren and Sam Smith.

Maria Carey did the same thing. When she premiered back in the 90’s, I absolutely LOVED her first album with “Vision of Love” on it. Pure, traditional Soul/R&B, firmly rooted in the fine tradition of Motown, Stax Volt, and Atlantic. Her vocal pyrotechnics were held back and restrained to the bridge of the song, and just used for special effects. I thought we were going to see a brilliant new Vocal Artist who would endure through the decades. Then she went hip-hop and (IMNSHO) began to decline in quality. With an occasional soulful pop ballad (Like Hero), I could still use her music to teach voice, but the kids always had to sing it karaoke style, with tracks, because it was no longer possible to “do” the song with just guitar and voice.

My favorite music is Classic Rock, but i am always open to new songwriters and styles. However, it is sad to see someone with genuine songwriting talent succumb to the “scene” in order to stay relevant. usually the exact opposite happens.

I hope that this is just a satirical phase TS is going through, and that you are right about it not being her usual format.

Otherwise, she and I are never, ever, ever, ever getting back together!

All the best to you too! :-)
