I say giant 25m Humboldt Squid are attracted the amphorae and tend to drag the merchant ship down to their depth, covering their den, where they leave some amphorae as bait for their future prey. Just sayin...<;^)

Completely agree. It’s the only theory that makes sense. When do we start filming our ‘History’ Channel series?
