Regardless, if you think putting children on a sex offender list for life is reasonable or even acceptable practice, you are only going to make the people who do these things less likely to ever be brought to the attention of the authorities. No one would ever go to the authorities if this was the result. It would not be beneficial to the accused or probably the victim.
The Duggars removed him from the home, got him counseling as well as the victims, and also went to the authorities.
After this episode I would be hard pressed to believe most people would take the last step if for no other reason than to spare themselves of the social notoriety.
There is also no evidence that Josh Duggar was looking at pornography at the time. All though I agree that it is not a good thing.
Gerry I remember growing up we could go over to a girlfriend’s house and play. Did not have to worry about her big brother doing crap to us because usually he was out somewhere with his friends and considered us “silly little girls playing with our Barbies”. Now it’s so freaking dangerous I just can’t imagine letting a child go over to play at another child’s house. Slumber parties? Oh that’s out if she has a big brother, unless that brother is gone to college.
I mean from all appearances the Duggars looked so clean cut, like you could trust sending your daughter over there to play. Now we know appearances are deceiving.

As for Dr. Reisman I have read everything she has on line and her books. Same reason her daughter was attacked. The boy was looking at porn.

He was NOT looking at porn as far as we know.
Every measure of crime is showing drastic drops in ALL crime including sexual crimes. There is very little likelihood that a person would be accosted at a friends home, particularly by a friends sibling.
It happens, but it is rare. It is far more likely that family member like an uncle, father, brother cousin and even an aunt or female relative would sexually assault another family member. It is also more likely if the family member is a Kennedy.
Anyone who thinks this is a right or left issue is wrong. Seriously, the right Is ok with child molestation? NO COMPANY should want to advertise on a show where the family protected their evil son from justice and simultaneously did not protect their daughters from being repeatedly molested. Not a “side of the aisle” issue.
Well, it is once the media makes it that. The Duggers are a symbol of the ‘corrupt right’ in media report after report. Personally, I couldn’t pick one of these people out of a line-up, but that’s not how it’s painted. Just like the Westboro cult is painted as religious right wingers, even through they have nothing to do with that.
