Yes, I read that defense of Bush as well in my two minutes of research on this so-called myth.
But that is not what is recorded in the video. The milk carton isn’t torn, and Bush waves his hand over the glass scanner in amazement at the technology, not at its ability to read torn labels.
What, by the way, is the “Sontag” connection? Certainly an odd handle for a Freeper, no?
Feel free to continue living the delusion that a man who was a naval aviator, congressman, CIA director, VP and POTUS can be a stupid moron.
Obviously the carton isn't torn, but you can't tell whether or not the UPC is gashed or obscured. The video is simply too poor to make such a claim as you are making.
and Bush waves his hand over the glass scanner in amazement at the technology, not at its ability to read torn labels.
Again, that is a fact not in evidence. Look, I DETESTED George HW Bush. He is a big part of why things are so screwed up. He wouldn't fight the Democrats. He broke his word on taxes. He appointed a lot of Horrible Judges. He utterly wasted Reagan's legacy.
But it occurs to me they wouldn't likely be showing ten year old scanner technology at a grocery store trade show. What would be the point of that? Whether or not George HW Bush has seen it or not is irrelevant to the fact that EVERYONE ELSE IN THAT INDUSTRY HAD.
If it wasn't new, why bring it to the trade show?
