I have lived in both Spain and France, and do not think I suffered food poisoning in either country. I probably ate out more in Spain than in France.

I’m sure there are better ways to determine incidence of food poisoning than sending questionnaires to tourists. Maybe government regulatory agencies that follow this stuff would be better sources.

You are right. Public health and disease control and monitoring agencies collect data and are the best sources of info assuming they are honest. I have traveled in a dozen or so, civilized countries and had few problems.

One way would be to install turnstiles with digital counters outside of the restrooms at popular tourist attractions.
