Memorial Weekend 2015. I Visited With Some Of My Family Today.

I picked up my sister this morning at 8:30 and we went to visit my brother, Richard. Dick passed away in 1980. It was all his fault.

After we placed the flowers that my sister had personally arranged, (she hates how flower shops put these things together and charge too much money for bad looking arrangements)I had my annual talk with my brother.

I told him, once again, that even though he screwed up, Mom and Dad always loved him and that we all forgave him.

Then we headed off for Fort Snelling, to chat with Mom and Dad.

Dad was a great man. Loved his family and his country. Served in WWII and Korea. He was a whiz at crosswords and word puzzles. Fluent in five languages. He was a code breaking expert for the allies. He was a hero. My hero, too. He would work any and every job to support his family. He even formed his own corporation.

He passed away 10 years ago, May 27, 2005. He was 83.

I asked him how he and Mom were getting along.

Mom went to be with The Lord and Dad last September 20.

She was 96, dang near 97 when she decided that she had enough of this world, as it is.

I thanked her for her love and discipline that kept me from making the same mistakes my brother made.

Very proud recent monthly donor here. Very touching story. I have been following this site since 2000 finally paying my dues. Bless your father for serving in World War 2 and I am sorry about your brother and your mother’s passing.

Two month FReepathons have taken a toll on Jim Awesome FReepathon Team. Members just can't dedicate 8 months out of each year to this worthy pursuit, because FReepathons are a 12-14 hour daily commitment, and 2 months of that is way too long. Our 2nd Quarter FReepathon has been operating on a skeletal crew.
