“odawg is a big NY liberal.

And you accuse me of not being able to follow logic, such as me saying that Trump is a wizard. If you can follow logic, I merely stated that I like what he has been consistently saying for the last 4 - 6 years and that he has shown he can get things done. As far as me being a liberal, I can’t even begin to respond to that stupidity. For Cruz being native born, I never brought it up. One or two others did who can’t defend his positions on trade, immigration, H-1B visas.

[Still successful in the end.]

The end isn’t over yet but ‘in the end’, he’s going to have to, by law, reveal all his financial holdings.

But you mistake the ability to create personal wealth, often by gaming the system, with someone who understands how to make the economy work for everybody. Those are two very very very different things. Warren Buffett is another who is personally very wealthy, and yet his policy positions are abject disasters for the country.

I would bet you fell for Perot’s bullsh-t too....now that I think about it. Not that you would admit it.

Trump is an economic populist liberal in many ways - he agrees with Mike Huckabee and Rick Santorum on a lot of economic issues, and they are all economic liberals.

The reason your Bush analogy was absurd is that I never pointed to Bush as someone who was a good economic President, and certainly not based on his personal successes.

Oh, remember this? Trump said Obama would make a GREAT President in 2008. Did you say that with him?

“But you mistake the ability to create personal wealth... with someone who understands how to make the economy work for everybody.”

No. My point was that a stupid person cannot accrue that kind of wealth. People were calling him stupid.

“I would bet you fell for Perot’s bullsh-t too....now that I think about it. Not that you would admit it.”

I agreed with what he said (he was right about NAFTA) as much as I can remember. I voted for Bush. Perot was the reason Clinton won, as I predicted.

“Trump is an economic populist liberal in many ways... Mike Huckabee and Rick Santorum ...”

I don’t care at all for Huckabee or Santorum, don’t know enough about them to comment.

“The reason your Bush analogy...”

I thought I explained that. When a conversation gets going, most people just interject thoughts and do not recapitulate every previous comment. I can’t remember or understand why you found that so offensive. I don’t like Bush either.

“Oh, remember this? Trump said Obama would make a GREAT President in 2008.”

No!!! I like Trump for his boldness and fighting spirit and what he preaches about this country. You want ever see a talking head cow him. Also, there is an article on Drudge this morning that states that there are over 27 million foreign born workers in the United States. My complaint last night was that Cruz, who I used to like, voted with Obama on trade, calls for more legal immigration, and for more H-1B vistas, which will finish off the country. Who, in their right mind, would give Obama more power? It is beyond comprehension. Finally, is it possible for honest people to honestly disagree, without all the venom?

I like him for his boldness and fighting spirit too - but when you drill down, he’s a policy weenie. The public bluster has you totally bamboozled.

I’ve written numerous articles about Trump, and how his fighting tone attracts people who he really doesn’t agree with, because they want a fighter. You are part of that crowd that’s been fooled.

There is a fighter in this race who has impeccable conservative credentials.

So you say I’m “name-calling” by pegging you as a birther, yet you use the word in a positive sense to describe “freepers and 40% of Americans.”

You’re not making sense. But really, that’s to be expected from someone who thinks a stunt-pulling, self-promoting, gasbag self-described DEMOCRAT would make a good Republican candidate.

I see from your history that the cloture vote issue has been explained to you over and over, yet you haven’t absorbed it. Do you think it will take if I go over it with you again?

Yeah. Didn’t think so.

From the AP, huh? Well, they certainly wouldn’t word a headline to influence opinion, would they? /S

What are you going to do, odawg, when your stunt-pulling self-described Democrat says or does something you don’t agree with? Are you going to start yapping because he didn’t turn out to be Jesus?

BTW, tell me something. What do you think about the fact that Trump HAS described himself as a Democrat? Or that he believes the economy is better under the Dems?

Do you see no problem with pushing a Democrat for the Republican presidency?

“The public bluster has you totally bamboozled.”

The only candidate who stayed true to his “public bluster” was Ronald Reagan. Here in Louisiana Bill Cassidy said everything right, we had no other real choice, we put him in office, and in literally THREE DAYS he betrayed us with his vote on the budget. Ditto Bobby Jindal, who said EVERYTHING right, and is about to leave office with the state budget, and other things, in absolute shambles. What a candidate says is what we have to go by, unless they have a voting record. If a candidate is too timid to step up and attack the forces that are destroying the nation, then I cross him off. How much more so if they VOTE for those forces, as in a trade agreement. Trump has been attacking those destructive forces consistently for years. How can an “impeccable conservative” vote to empower Obama on trade? Call for more H-1B visas? Call for more legal immigration (already over a million per year)? The only Reagan-like candidate in my estimation would be Senator Jeff Sessions, and he is not running. People change and progress through life. You can never really know. (As for bluster, everyone I’ve ever met from New York City had that attitude.)

so Trump is okay to bamboozle you because you were disappointed by Cassidy and Jindal too? You make no sense dude.

But I’m gonna tell you this, and your thick noggin won’t accept it, but Trump is FAR FAR FAR MORE LIBERAL than Cassidy or Jindal. You’ll be embarrassed at some point.

That adoration you paint accurately describes your attitude about Cruz, not mine about Trump. “Cinderblock”? Can’t defend you mindless emotions and still can’t stop the name calling? If Trump came with out with just one of the issues I listed about Cruz, I would criticize him just like I do Cruz. Incidentally, Reagan was originally a democrat. By the way, could you please justify Cruz on his vote for cloture of the trade bill? That is just one item. No name calling necessary.

You know what has struck me about the small but obsessed Trump nation? None of them are very well informed or, dare I say it, very intelligent. Their arguments are childish and full of straw choices.

Strep one for Trump to make the country great: go away. With his bad comb-over, crappy reality shows, and constantly failing businesses and marriages he quite simply contributes nothing positive to the country.

You have no idea what issues are really conservative / liberal fault lines. In fact, you have some of them bass ackwards because you are wrong on some of them.

On the cloture vote for trade: it’s hard to say this trade deal is bad or good...because Elizabeth Warren and most of the Democrats are VERY Much against it. That indicates it’s probably okay. On the other hand, Obama is for it, and that indicates it may not be.

I could say he voted to defeat Eliz Warren on trade, and that’s a good thing.

In other words, this is not a conservative / liberal issue fault line. Unless of course you’re a liberal union thug and hate all international trade. Are you?

Or it could be that 60 votes were solid anyway, and Cruz is negotiating on another issue. That type of swapping goes on all the time. It’s a fact of life, get used to it.

As for legal immigration, there’s no evidence Cruz is for more of it...and no evidence that more legal immigration is bad. The H1 B visa issue is used as a bargaining chip to stop illegal immigration, an issue where Cruz is among the best in all of the congress.

Rush just called the bill DISASTROUS. It is being done in secret, for crying out loud. So much for your perceptive abilities.

” for legal immigration, there’s no evidence Cruz is for more of it...and no evidence that more legal immigration is bad.”

He said he was for it, and if you think it is a good thing...

he doesn’t understand the deal....and he’s slamming it for the politics of it, not necessarily the bill itself.

And.he is agreeing with Eliz Warren, and if you think that puts you in good stead, then go ahead.

And you are the “ugly merkan”

"That adoration you paint accurately describes your attitude about Cruz, not mine about Trump."

Sorry, no. I don't practice hero worship of elected officials, nor do I expect utter perfection from them. You, on the other hand, say you supported Cruz, but you flounced off in a fit of temper when he did the first thing you didn't agree with. And then decided to place your support behind a bloviating clown.

" “Cinderblock”? Can’t defend you mindless emotions and still can’t stop the name calling?"

That's right. Cinderblock. Dense. You refuse to listen to reason and continue to emote about the case of butthurt Ted Cruz inflicted on you.

" If Trump came with out with just one of the issues I listed about Cruz, I would criticize him just like I do Cruz. "

You won't even criticize him for the liberal stances I listed upthread.

"Incidentally, Reagan was originally a democrat."

Yes, he was. He had a genuine change of mind and heart, and he backed up his words with actions----plenty of them. Trump has done nothing but run his mouth. I can't believe you're actually comparing that idiot to Reagan...

" By the way, could you please justify Cruz on his vote for cloture of the trade bill? That is just one item. No name calling necessary."

All right. I'll start by telling you that, as a former Cruz supporter (if indeed you were), you should have known that he was always an advocate of free trade. He isn't flip-flopping on this, nor is the main takeaway that he "helped Obama", no matter how satisfying it might feel to screech it while in the middle of a temper fit.

Here (link to article below):

"Before the vote, Cruz said he was backing the package because it had economic repercussions back home.

'In my home state of Texas, there are over 2.2 million jobs that depend on exports," Cruz said. "Trade benefits farmers, it benefits ranchers, it benefits manufacturers. When we open up new markets across the globe, it creates jobs and economic growth and opportunity here at home.'

But Cruz was also careful to thread the needle between being pro-business and still being a vocal critic of the Obama administration. When asked if he trusted Obama to negotiate a trade deal, Cruz said that he believed the administration could "do very little," yet he was comfortable enough that Congress would have a vote on any deal the president negotiated.

'The next 20 months are going to be very dangerous. The Obama administration has proven to be the most lawless and abusive in history, but one of the few areas where this administration has been willing to support positive economic policies is in the area of international trade,' Cruz said, before going on to criticize his Democratic colleagues for standing in the way of TPA. Cruz jokingly classified President Obama's disagreement with those in his party like Sen. Elizabeth Warren as "Democrat-on-Democrat violence."
