Question for the group.

FReepers are avid readers, of all genres. Threads like this one are always popular. Over the years I've discovered many excellent books because another Freeper mentioned it somewheres.

Could we get John Robinson, and the mods to update, and add a new Forum: "Book Reviews."

This way, you read a book..if you're inclined to do so, you can post a review, good or bad..others can add their comments, and it's easy to find.

Comments?

The best book that I’ve read recently was called “The Light Between Oceans” by M.L. Stedman. We read it for our ladies’ book club, and it was the one that we all agreed was the most interesting of the books we’ve read this year. It was about a lighthouse keeper and was set in Australia just after WWI.

It looks like they have turned or are turning it into a movie.

I was thinking of reading that as well. It’s at the end of the book that the Big Fisherman is tossed the robe.

Oops, forgot I’ve read UnBroken twice. Better reading than watching the movie.

I read on my kindle if the book is available. I have been chewing through Larry Nivens known space books. The Ringworld trilogy is awesome.

Nation of One: The Next Great Age of MAN Is Here

It’s an action packed science thriller. A good read for sure. Douglas E. Richards has some good books also, Amped, Wired, Brainweb.

Last six months? In no particular order: Casino Royale, Live and Let Die, Moonraker (current), all by Ian Fleming.

The Rho Agenda Series (The Second Ship, Immune, Wormhole) by Richard Phillips, and his connected prequel Rho Agenda Inception books (Once Dead and Dead Wrong). I see he has a new one out called Dead Shift, so I'll be getting that soon. All on Kindle.

The kids and I are reading Lord of the Rings out loud (again).

I just finished reading The Hobbit, outloud to myself. I know, it sounds wierd; but, my ability to concentrate when reading has taken a bit of a hit, so I read outloud and stuff seems to stick better.

Currently reading the latest in the Barker and Llewelyn historical mystery series, Anatomy of Evil by Will Thomas. I love this series, known for both its atmospheric adventure and historical accuracy.

Review

In London of 1888, Private Enquiry Agent Cyrus Barker takes on his biggest case ever—the attempt to find and stop the killer terrorizing Whitechapel: Jack the Ripper

Cyrus Barker is undoubtedly England’s premiere private enquiry agent. With the help of his assistant Thomas Llewelyn, he’s developed an enviable reputation for discreetly solving some of the toughest, most consequential cases in recent history. But one evening in 1888, Robert Anderson, the head of Scotland Yard’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID), appears at Barker’s office with an offer. A series of murders in the Whitechapel area of London are turning the city upside down, with tremendous pressure being brought to bear on Scotland Yard and the government itself.
