I used to drive to work every morning listening to WSHE on the radio, and the local news would tell how many people were killed in Miami and surrounding municipalities last night. It was hardly ever zero.

We left in 1980 after the Liberty City Riots we barely escaped being caught in. Just like Ferguson and Baltimore...........................

I have a dear friend who lives in St. Louis RIGHT across the Interstate from Ferguson. Luckily, the Highway was a barrier, and thank God she is safe.

My wife and I were newly weds at the time. We had a motorcycle and were sightseeing in Miami that day. We stopped for lunch at a Krystal burger joint in Liberty City. They had the TV going and the trial results just came in while we were eating. We were the only white people in the restaurant. I told my wife we better get the hell outta here and fast. We hit the road immediately and hit I-95 headed for Margate as fast as that MC would go. A couple hours later we heard the news that rioting had begun almost as soon as we left..................

Yikes!

I was on my way down to the Keys, when I took a wrong turn and got lost in a very bad part of Miami. I just needed to get back on 95 and I’d be fine.

On the corner was a Farrakhan-type (complete with bow tie) handing out NOI newspapers. I roared up to him on the Harley and asked politely how to get to I95. The guy was so stunned that an elderly white lady in full leathers on a Harley was asking for directions, that he pointed me in the right direction!

hahaha.

Take illegal aliens for example. Insurance rates in Texas are sky high in part because of uninsured/under insured illegal aliens. Heck, illegals will get out and abandon the vehicle by running away from an accident knowing full well they stand a good chance of never having to face the financial and or legal responsibility of an accident.

How has the law requiring insurance helped with that? This happens today even with laws requiring insurance. The law apparently only applies to the law abiding.

So, you don’t believe in civil liability, or just don’t know what it is?

Me thinks its DL’s ass talking cause his mouth surely knows better.

For those who would like to see the gruesome effects of no seatbelts, you can go to google and view the aftermath. Search on: not wearing seatbelt then click on images.

So, you don’t believe in civil liability, or just don’t know what it is?

So you don't believe in Freedom, or just don't know what it is?

Case # 1 - "Even the legislature has no power to deny to a citizen the right to travel upon the highway and transport his property in the ordinary course of his business or pleasure, though this right may be regulated in accordance with the public interest and convenience. - Chicago Motor Coach v Chicago 169 NE 22 ("Regulated" here means traffic safety enforcement, stop lights, signs, etc. NOT a privilege that requires permission i.e.- licensing, mandatory insurance, vehicle registration, etc.)

Case # 2 - "The right of the citizen to travel upon the public highways and to transport his property thereon, either by carriage or by automobile, is not a mere privilege which a city may prohibit or permit at will, but a common right which he has under the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness."- Thompson v Smith 154 SE 579.

Case # 3 - "The right to travel is a part of the liberty of which the citizen cannot be deprived without due process of law under the 5th Amendment." - Kent v Dulles, 357 U.S. 116, 125.

Case # 4 - "Undoubtedly the right of locomotion, the right to remove from one place to another according to inclination, is an attribute of personal Iiberty, and the right, ordinarily, of free transit from or through the territory of any State is a right secured by the l4th Amendment and by other provisions of the Constitution." - Schactman v Dulles, 96 App D.C. 287, 293.

If one is injured in causing an accident - in this case from not wearing a seatbelt - and has no insurance, it’s the taxpayer who picks up the tab. And oft times inordinately so.

Wish my brother had seen this about 4 hours ago. He got a $45 dollar ticket.

I’m largely on ‘your’ side, although I don’t like the mandatory part.

Likewise, you can google various car crashes of 1950’s cars. People were routinely decapitated or their chests caved in, crushed. Horrific injuries. I think I saw a video of a crash test of a 1959 Chevy vs a newish Chevy. Even tho the new Chevy was certainly a smaller car, you would not want to be in the older one, it was obviously fatal or very near.

Your issue is with the people who let nonpayers bilk the system. i.e. The Federal government who mandates it but doesn't pay for it.

“I had the very same reaction when I first saw this on FR:

Cruz-or-Lose”

Ha! That’s so over the top, I can’t do anything but laugh at it.

>>How has the law requiring insurance helped with that?<<

Uninsured/Underinsured motorist coverage, but rates are higher because of IAliens.
