A Gert Town woman is accused of taking a baseball bat to her boyfriend, his car and his eastern New Orleans house Sunday, after New Orleans police said she found the man inside his residence with another woman.
Jaylen Griffith, 21, was arrested Sunday after police said they caught her fleeing the attack on the 30-year-old man shortly before 9:30 p.m. in the 7400 block of West Cavelier Drive. An arrest report said Griffith, who listed a home address in the 3200 block of South Lowerline Street, was intoxicated by alcohol at the time she was apprehended.
According to police, NOPD 7th District Officer Reginald Koeller III responded to a call about a potential domestic dispute at the man's house and arrived in time to see Griffith fleeing in a silver vehicle. Police said they stopped Griffith at the intersection of West Cavelier Drive and Michoud Boulevard.
The man told police that Griffith had arrived at his house and "was upset due to the fact he was inside of his residence with another female." The man told police he asked Griffith to leave several times, but that she refused. He told police Griffith then "became enraged," retrieved a baseball bat from her car's trunk, and began swinging.
