And of course it could be man-made gravity-change that contributed to his death.

As an adrenaline junky who has made it to old age, I question your assumption that the deceased led an “empty life”.

I feel sorry for their families and those who had to pick up the pieces, but for the jumpers themselves...
The risks were part of the thrill, it's not like they didn't know it was dangerous.
They died doing what they loved. Not a bad deal. They won't complain.

I get my exercise mowing my 1/5th acre kingdom with a reel mower. Best of all, I can do it in the early morning while it is still cool without disturbing my neighbors with a sound no louder than CLICKETY-CLICK.

At the age of 5, Potter tried to climb the stone wall that surrounded his family's temporary home , but fell on his head, she said.

Alrighty then.

From one perspective I observe that few of us will actually die doing what we love.

From another I observe the total recklessness of this hack for not wearing a locator so rescuers would be able to find the adrenaline junkie, dead/injured/alive, without major waste of resources and risk to YSAR staff & volunteers’ safety...

A successful base jump is just a failed suicide attempt.
