I got several paddlings in middle school...with a real paddle made just for such.
corporal punishment is step one in restoring some sort of civilization in the “youths” of both America and the UK.
at my boarding school we got canned with a rattan cane.
yep, the principal in my elementary school had a paddle hanging behind his chair and in large letters on it was THE GOLDEN RULE. We all understood what it meant. Also I learned what the expression “I will shake you into the middle of next week” meant because Mrs. Duke would pick you up by your shirt and Do it!
The paddle in our school (displayed prominently in the principal’s office) had three holes drilled in it to lessen wind resistance as it descended toward your hindquarters...
Back in the day ... the punishment was being strapped. The strap was maybe 16" x 4" and looked like it was from a piece of conveyor belting. Typically five on each outstretched hand ... hurt like hell. Speaking from personal experience.
When we were at that school, the principal had a wooden paddle with holes drilled in it. The holes left welts.
When my family moved from Montana to Louisiana in 96, the redneck kids always thought it’d be funny to beat on the little Yankee boy. When they lost teeth and blood from ATTACKING ME UNPROVOKED, I was always paddled do fighting. The indigenous hillbilly kids were seldom punished. Thankfully, the attacks eventually stopped.
