Anybody have any good sources regarding the Terri Schiavo case?

Posted on 05/12/2015 9:58:30 PM PDT by Politicalkiddo

I am doing a paper for my college health class about Euthanasia and the right to die, and I am supposed to discuss Terri Schiavo's situation. My textbook doesn't give much information and the information that is given paints her parents as horrible for wanting to keep her alive "against her wishes".

While I was pretty young when this situation occurred, I have heard snippets here and there over the years and the whole situation seems fishy. I tried Googling information, and all I come up with Wikipedia and MSM articles talking about her "right to die". Does someone have any good links that explain the whole situation?

Check the website of Priests for Life. Fr. Pavone was heavily involved in the case.

Her brother, Bobby Schindler, runs an organization in her memory, which you can find if you Google it. He will give you any information you need if you ask. I know him somewhat, and is an outstanding person.

Silent Witness is about the case. Go to Amazon.com and there are quite a few books about the case. After so many people have woken up after months or even years in a coma, it is easy to see that Terry was murdered.

“Her wishes” was voiced through her husband. The parents, I. Believe, disagreed that she wished such.

If I recall the arguments.

Curious thing. The argument that she is brain dead and devoid of any humanity in her body but we have to honor her wishes. As though the corn cares for the husk.

About as sensible to me as “allowing” someone to die with dignity by withholding water and forcing them to die of dehydration.

There are four kinds of euthanasia. Two are moral and two are immoral.
Active voluntary. Immoral You cannot ask to be put to death.
Passive voluntary. Moral. A doctor can remove nutrition when life is corrupting. Terri Schiavo’s life was stable and not corrupting.
Active involuntary. Immoral. A doctor cannot put you to death. Schiavo’s doctor did this.
Passive involuntary. Moral. It’s like drowning.

Thus, Schiavo’s doctor said one thing (Passive Voluntary) and did another thing (Active Involuntary). That is the evil deception.

Read the equal protection requirements of the Fifth and the Fourteenth Amendments to the U.S. Constitution, and Article One, Section 2 of the Florida Constitution, and you will see that everyone from the tinpot probate judge who condemned an innocent woman to be tortured to death via dehydration, to the higher state courts in Florida, to the Florida Attorney General, Charlie Crist, to Florida’s Governor and Chief law enforcement officer, Jeb Bush, to the federal courts, and even to the President of the United States, failed in the fulfillment of the primary obligation of their office by failing to protect Terri Schindler Schiavo.

Her husband’s lawyer was a Scientologist.

Jeb stood by and let it happen.

the really sick thing about this case was the reason she was in a coma was her husband beat her.
What i could never figure out was her parents obviously loved her more than husband and they let husband make decisions.

"Silent Witness" is the best book on the case written by a retired detective:

**the really sick thing about this case was the reason she was in a coma was her husband beat her.**

You know, my Mom and I both followed the case, and I never knew that! The MSM must have really downplayed it. Did he ever face charges? Assault? Involuntary manslaughter? Anything?!?

You’ll get a lot of good leads from the folks here, but I just want to point out that “her wishes” were some stray remarks in a casual conversation and possible were what would legally be called “heresay”. She didn’t have a “living will” or any documented evidence of her desires in such a situation.

Does anyone know why the insurance company didn’t go after Michael? He testified in the law suit he needed the money to take care of Terri for the rest of her life.
