Protective clothing for the the crew and their bunks would weigh much less. Since they will be weightless, it would reduce the inconvenience of wearing personal protective gear.

No type of clothing will protect against cosmic rays. What it takes is sufficient mass to turn high-energy particles into lower-energy secondary showers of particles. You get more particles hitting you, but below a certain threshold they don't do damage.
