Officers Charged In Freddie Gray’s Death, State’s Attorney Said Arrest Was Illegal [Knife Was Legal]
WJZ, CBS Baltimore ^ | May 1, 2015 | Derek Valcourt

City State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby says Freddie Gray received his critical injuries in Baltimore police custody and has charged all six officers involved in his death...“Lt. Rice, Officer Nero and Officer Miller failed to establish probable cause for Mr. Gray’s arrest, as no crime had been committed by Mr. Gray,” Mosby said...They found a knife clipped inside his pants packet — the knife was not a switchblade and is lawful under Maryland law, she said.

yep, if a police officer yells HALT and you continue to run, they have probable cause to chase and arrest you for failing to follow the orders of a police officer.

You may not like it, but that’s the law.

Cops may have failed to find the baggie he tossed in his run from them.

I look forward to seeing the murder charges against the VA employees who let Veterans die under their care.

Oh, by the way, been to the Social Security office lately? Armed guards. Armed guards in the VA Waiting Room and at the VA Claims Office. Take them out and put them on the streets of Baltimore and see what those citizens say.

There is no indictment. A Grand Jury was NOT convened. That would take way to long. The wheels of “justice” have been turbocharged.

Worth repeating.

I've seen posts saying the guy was on probation for previous drug convictions, and I'd expect that not running from the cops is probably a pretty standard requirement of probation.

This woman is in way over her head. When I first heard her, I thought it was a low level spokeswoman reading a paper someone had written for her.

Yet the DA is charging some of the cops with false arrest or false "imprisonment".

I think they should potentially be fired but not arrested. Not for just getting the type of knife wrong.

they can “charge” them with anything, convicting them is an entirely different matter.

That press conference and the charges were nothing but a stunt to appease the rioters. Everything about it was staged from the race hustlers in the background, the charges, the attitude, everything.

If Gray were white, how much controversy would have been generated? Can we say next to none. Gray was a career criminal with several violent convictions on his record. He was just another worthless street hood. If he were white, people would be applauding his demise. Certainly, most whites wouldn't care.

I remember many years ago when a white street punk in my hometown was found dead in a downtown alley, beaten to death. The guy had multiple convictions and was constantly in the police news. My father made a statement after reading about his death somewhere along the lines of if you play with matches enough, you're going to get burned.

Sadly, her predecessor was pretty competent. He was only in for one term and he was white.

It was a shock won the election last November.

Bogus charges of "false inprisonment" .

Ironic.

Here's what I think: Freddy Gray was a scumbag, known to the police as a troublemaker and a drug dealer. When he was arrested, the officers decided to render a little street justice by giving him a "nickel ride" or whatever else they call it.

Street justice at the end of a nightstick works Irish on Irish, or Italian on Italian. Not so sure it works white on black, but I'm not necessarily opposed to it - just glad I don't have to police those streets, and grateful to those who do.

The driver is charged with murder, the others are not. I bet the driver was more pissed off than usual, maybe words were exchanged that the other officers have testified to.

Anyway, with street justice the perp is not supposed to wind up dead. Freddy did.

So, somebody's going down for this.

This should get interesting. Notice we aren’t seeing any photos of the six cops. IIRC, Baltimore PD is like 60% black. So at least half of these six ought a be black. Like I say, gonna get interesting.

It seemed obvious to me from the edge in her voice that she was determined to get “justice for the people” i.e. nail those racist, cracker cops who murdered an innocent, young black man.
