Pregnant at Harvard?
Harvard Crimson ^ | April 27, 2015 | Anonymous

...

I took two pregnancy tests, just to be certain. I spent the night by myself, crying. The very next day, I skipped class and went to an abortion clinic, where I officially learned that I was almost four months pregnant. My ex-boyfriend had apparently broken up with a girl who was a month and a half pregnant with his child.

All I desperately wanted was to have my boyfriend back. I wanted him to hold me and let me cry into his chest, for him to tell me that everything was okay even though it wasn’t. But by the time I found out the truth, it was too late to get him back. He had started dating another girl two months after we broke up. I couldn’t tell him. I couldn’t tell anyone.

So I called the clinic and made an appointment for a week’s time. That week was the hardest of my entire life. I hid underneath baggy sweaters, convinced that someone would notice how round my stomach had gotten. I was pale and withdrawn, and skipped almost every class to cry in my bedroom. I woke up every day praying that I was having some extended nightmare. I wasn’t.

I headed to the clinic a week later with just a book, a water bottle, my Harvard ID, and a locket containing a picture of my ex-boyfriend and me. The procedure didn’t take long. It wasn’t even that physically painful. But when it was over, I screamed. I couldn’t stop screaming. As I write these words, it has been over a month since the abortion—and on the inside that screaming hasn’t stopped.

The failure rate of birth control is between 1-7%. An average failure rate of 3%.

For every 100 women actively having sex while using birth control, an average of three become pregnant over the course of a year.

How many people would fly if three out of one hundred planes crashed? How about one out of every one hundred?

The failure rate of birth control is right there on the box.

Sex is dangerous for women. Only they become pregnant. They have to deal with the consequences one way or another. That is why they should not engage in sexual activity with men to whom they are not married or worse act the whore.

99% effective is 1% ineffective. For every 100 women on a birth control regimen that is 99% effective, at least one will become pregnant over the course of one year.

The only sure way to not become regnant is to not have intercourse. Plane and simple. There is no 100% effective birth control besides abstinence. That is why marriage is so important for women.

I have always believed that a person who obtains an abortion should lose a percentage of any Social Security that they would collect during retirement. They have destroyed the replacement rate and the increasing labor supply that pays the benefits.

“...we should give the Harvard Crimson credit for publishing her sad story. I read almost every magazine out there and you never read anything about how birth control sometimes does fail...”

Totally agree Uta. And for once I can support “disabling comments”.

And you are right nobody talks about birth control failure. I remember hearing a caller to the Dr. Laura show, years ago, saying that a. she was on the Pill and b. she was ALSO using condoms for std protection and guess what, she got pregnant! it

Ladies, and I use the term loosely, if you have sex, you might get pregnant. But dear hearts, remember it is not the end of the world and your child WILL love you.

My sister-in-law had an abortion 30+ years ago and still suffers the psychological effects of that decison. Sadly, she doesn’t know Jesus. Satan has lied to her by telling her that because she killed that baby G-d will never forgive her and does not want her.

As stupid as Ms. Harvard sounds, my heart still breaks for her. I pray she finds the peace that only Jesus can provide.

If you want to have unmarried sex which is OK with me then get on the pill...

And if you're too stupid and lazy to remember to take a pill every day, then keep your legs together. There. Problem solved.

...because she killed that baby G-d will never forgive her

I pray that she reads, or someone directs her, to parts of the Bible that talk about people who murdered, some in cold blood, but repented and went on to write parts of the Bible and be used greatly by God.

I don’t know why you would think it creepy. It is a simple fact. Read what I said and read the leaflet that accompanies birth control pills, patches, foams or even condoms. They all have a failure rate. A minimum of 1%.

Statistically for every 100 sexually active women using any form of birth control at least 1 becomes pregnant over the course of a year. For some forms as high as five or more. Statistically.

I think what was so creepy was and apparently still is your unnatural interest in women’s reproductive activities. Just Eeeew! :-)

why can't you spare some sympathy for a young woman who essentially admits that she has been broken by having had an abortion?

It's not a matter of sympathy. Before people commit murder, they have to overcome some kind of a mental hurdle. Once they overcome that hurdle, it becomes easier to murder a second, third, etc., time. It is obvious from the article that that girl didn't have much of a hurdle to overcome--in fact, she couldn't wait to commit that murder. Whatever remorse she felt afterwards, the fact is that she is still a person who is capable of committing murder, and may actually commit more murders (and beat herself up over it every time). To my mind, that isn't a person who should be allowed to become a mother to living children.

Are you a child or simply addled?

The discussion , one brought up by you, was about the fact that you tend to believe that 99% effective means completely effective. It simply does not. Such is the case with the ignorant woman in story in the Harvard Crimson.

The women says that the type of birth control she and her ex-boyfriend used made becoming pregnant one in a million. Not hardly. More like 1 in 100 or greater.

You actually seemed pretty snarky about the ease of finding a 99% effective form of birth control unwittingly showing your ignorance as to the semi-truck hole in your entire argument. SHE WAS USING 99% Effective BIRTH CONTROL!

Had this young Harvard undergraduate realized that ALL birth control fails at some time and at a certain measurable and verifiable percentage, she may not have been in the position of murdering her unborn child.

The reason why the sex lives of others are important to us is because we as a greater society are forced to PAY FOR THEIR MISTAKES! Either through increased taxes to pay for their bastard children or through increased fees, insurance premiums and productivity loss to pay for their abortions and care for their bruised psyches.

We also care that we live in a society that is so Pagan as to condone and even champion abortion which for any rational person is child murder.

So we have a vested interest in the story and in the downward spiral of today's sexually liberated society. We have a vested interest in GETTING THE FACTS STRAIGHT!

I am by no means a prude. I have NO PROBLEM with realistic sex education. However, we should be telling our children the truth. Sex feels great. It is supposed to feel good. It is also incredibly dangerous to be sexually adventurous or active sexually AT ALL outside of a committed relationship. It is dangerous to your mental health, your physical health and the health of the greater society.

It is DAMN DANGEROUS even in a committed relationship! Particularly to your pocket book, as MOST women will become pregnant. Almost always at the most inconvenient times. I KNOW THAT FOR A FACT! I have five sons.

I have a vested financial interest in my children to the tune of hundreds of thousands dollars, so far. Unfortunately I also have a vested interest in many an unwed mother and their many bastard children through the hundreds of thousands of dollars I have paid in taxes SO FAR. Unlike my own children, I don't even get the fun of helping to make their children. I don't even know them, I just get the bills!

Telling someone it is safe to engage in sexual intercourse EVER without the possibility of becoming pregnant makes you an ignorant fool to the tune of hundreds of thousands of times per year. Actually an average of 444,360 times per year. That is the average amount of abortions performed on women every year who also where under the misconception that they where using birth control that was completely effective. UH OH!

Nothing is more creepy than a dismembered and aborted fetus. I suggest you google a couple images. It might put you off your food, but it is a very enlightening exercise.
