Switzerland is the world's happiest nation thanks to healthy GDP figures, strong social bonds and an increasing life expectancy, a new study of global wellbeing has revealed.

The list is dominated by European nations, particularly those in Scandinavia, and measures a country's population by factors contributing to its citizens' contentment, rather than wealth.

Britons are happier now than they were two years ago, the study found, but still ranks in at a relatively lowly 21st place. And despite often mocking its northern neighbour as an inferior nation, the United States is a full 10 places below Canada, ranking at 10th and fifth respectively.

I recall from a visit to Montreaux that it was quite an ordeal to buy there. That city on the shore of Lake Geneva was a very beautiful setting, and it was one of the cleanest places I have ever seen, I recall a saying we were told, when the wife is through cleaning the house she cleans the guns, I believe all males are available for call up if needed.

A somewhat misleading survey. I have never been to Switzerland myself. It is so small perhaps it can fit in as an entity. America and Canada so huge that certain areas are vastly different than others. This both in climate and ethnic make up.

For pure happiness one could view the Upper Peninsula of Michigan when the REAL spring finally hits. This would include their neighbour in Ontario, Canada. Snow yesterday and it ain't here yet. When it does, it is all smiley face!
