To: Cringing Negativism Network
It's a hilarious show. It doesn't fall into the pitfall of the protagonists being perpetually "aggrieved". The family has all the strengths and weaknesses of any other. They are not cast as civil rights champions, heroes or victims.

This particular episode the father was trying to convince a guy from the Bronx (who is white, BTW) that he's still authentically black by having him over to dinner. The family is destroying his effort at every turn. Right in the middle of his effort his daughter comes down touting Sarah Palin as her hero. There was no sarcasm involved. That daughter is precocious and an independent thinker. Having Palin as her hero was a stretch but not impossible.

Thanks for your explanation. Sounds to me like it IS a compliment. Hubby and I have seen commercials for it and always thought it looked funny. We may have to see if it’s On Demand and give it a shot.
