A study of the Bay Area region finds that San Francisco is becoming less diverse as surrounding counties increase multicultural populations.
CityLab noted the study's starkest findings in the PolicyLink study: San Francisco is predicted to be the "whitest county" in the Bay Area by the year 2040. San Francisco is the only county in the Bay Area that is becoming less diverse; surrounding counties are becoming more diverse as soaring rent prices continue to drive people into other cities and towns.
"It's startling because the city's diversity and identity as a progressive, inclusive city is seriously at-risk," Sarah Treuhaft, PolicyLink's director of Equitable Growth Initiatives, said in an interview with the publication. "In fact, an honest look at the data shows it is becoming a mirage."
The study predicts that, on the other side of the spectrum, diversity will increase in Alameda, Contra Costa and San Mateo Counties in that timeframe.
Also on the rise throughout the Bay Area: Income inequality, Curbed noted, has jumped from 45th place in the country in 1979 to a current ranking of 14th place.
They will undoubtedly see this as a negative.....

Don’t you love the irony of this story? San Francisco is one of the most liberal cities in America and the poor and downtrodden can’t afford to live there. I guess those latte drinking, BMW driving, and well educated white liberals are going to do something about this outrage! It points out the hypocrisy with white liberals. They may vocally express their support for people of color but they sure as hell don’t want any of them living in their neighborhoods and condo dwellings.

The highest concentration of Homosexuals is in the DC Metro.
Soon a Chinese majority and Caucasian minority. Blacks have been moving out for several years and now Mexicans are doing likewise as Asians ( mostly from communist China ) are buying up most of the housing ( both in SF city proper and in the suburbs). There’s still a tremendous amount of diversity in SF! But it’s clear that the Asians are buying up more and more of it. Incidentally the suburban country immediately to the south was declared America’s most diverse county a couple years ago by the US Census Bureau And its housing is largely being bought up by people in or from Communist China, too ) More and more Asians, including Vietnamese Koreans etc. lots of diversity among the Asians if you look closely but we don’t know if the survey measures that?
Liberalism is all about feel good intentions. Results don’t matter in the least.

Least diverse county will probably mean safer, cheaper insurance rates and cleaner streets.

Oh I think the leftist self-appointed elite know exactly what they’re doing, contrary to what they are foisting upon the rest of us.
Around our area, cities that aren’t integrated, the housing authority buys houses that minorities could never afford, and rents or sells them to minorities at a substantial discount.
I think SF could benefit from such a progressive program.
