Can't figure out why Jeb Bush is so popular in the poll. This makes no sense to me and I was wondering if there are any Jeb Bush supporters here on FreeRepublic?

They still get paid, win or lose. They get their turn at the money troughs. They get to peddle influence.

They view elections as mere periodic inconveniences. As soon as the election is over, they return to their pre-election conditions.

Sometimes they screw up and actually win control of The House or The Senate or The White House. Then, they have to work -- until they screw up enough to get voted out. At which point they return to still getting paid, win or lose; getting their turn at the money troughs; getting to peddle influence.

From your sign up date, you don't seem to have been here very long. Thus, you might not be aware of how active and vicious the election-related threads can become.

The two-year election periods can be pretty rough, but the presidential election cycles can get downright nasty and belligerent. Forum Mods are so busy deleting nasty posts and banning individuals that even they can get testy.

Many of us just cook up another batch of popcorn, sit back, and watch the fireworks in the threads.

I’ve been lurking for years and have seen the purges. I’ve seen the cajoling, guilting, castigating, and all the other attempts to get conservatives to vote for the designated loser Democrat in an R jersey. It hasn’t worked well the last two times, won’t work again, especially if it’s Jebster.

For the record, I voted Bob Barr in 2008, I did hold my nose for Romney, even though I knew not to believe anything he said.

I’m not voting for Jebster, ever.

The lines are pretty clear here.

No FReepers will Vote for Bush in the Primaries, NOT A ONE.

If Bush is the Primary Nominee, some will Vote for him over the Democrat / Communist / Fascist and some will not.

Should Bush lose the General Election, the second group will spend the next Eight Years complaining about Bush and the Republican Party, not the Democrat / Communist / Fascist that Won. Just using History as a guide.

Disclaimer: It’s Cruz in the Primary for me and anyone but the Democrat in the General.

I do not subscribe to the idea that many have here that if Romney was Elected he would have been worse than Obama. Obama has opened the door for any future Democrat President to ascend their Role to that of a King / Queen in a Monarchy.

FWIW, George 2 gave us Justice Roberts. And he traitored us on Obamacare, who knows why? Besides that, from Jeb's stated positions, there's nothing about his appointments that would be conservative.

I'd rather if the nation is going down anyway it's with a Democrat who's honest about their politics than with another phony who trolls for constitutional conservative votes.

The worst RINO is better than the best RAT. What is important is getting strong conservative representation in the house and senate. A RINO president will not (or very seldom will) veto conservative legislation; a RAT will almost always do so. We must hold their feet to the fire, not let them get away with half-measures covered by explanatory BS.
