That is a good point. The harridans clamoring for this are not the ones who will ever make use of the lowered standards. The military is being turned into a branch of JobCorp.

And you never hear these harpies crying about the unequal percentages of sewer workers.

Soldiers will die because of this PC Crap.

No, MARINES will die because of this PC Crap (and anyone else they're trying to protect.)

1. The mission will not be accomplished.
2. The welfare of the Marines will be degraded, and they will be endangered.

The Marine Corps just finished research to see if female officers could successfully complete its rigorous Infantry Officer Course.
And they discovered that the vast majority of women, if not all, can't cut it. That alone doesn't mean the Marine Corps will lower standards - as it is, the Corps still segregates men/women for boot camp.

BTW, the picture in the article is very deceiving. From the caption: These are NOT women on the Infantry Officer Course. It's an 18 month old picture of new women Marines undergoing basic infantry instruction after boot camp.
All Marines - men and women - get this training.

How about this for a compromise?

We'll lower the standard for some, but will use them to form a battalion that will be called upon in case we ever go back to war with France.

Good article and always like Rowan Scarborough’s reporting. That said, the WashTimes website sucks donkey balls!!

As to the topic, the Marines have a strong case with data that are not skewed by changing any standard for IOC. Perfumed princes like Dempsey need to just butt out. The politicians that get the US into international scrapes will be glad in the future if this is left well-enough alone.

Missing in this discussion is the fact that passing the Combat Endurance Course on Day One of the Infantry Officers Course (IOC) is just meeting the minimum physical standard in order to cross the threshold and attend the course. A small but significant number of male Marine officers don’t pass the Day One test either.

Those that do get to attend the course. If that is just the introduction, what is the rest of the course like? Normally, these courses build up to a very demanding physical and mental crescendo.

Why did the four woman Marine officers that reportedly passed the Day One test subsequently drop?

What happened to the women Marine enlisted that passed the basic infantry training course at School of Infantry (SOI)? How many tried? How many passed? What were the reasons for the drops? Where are the women Marines who passed the SOI course currently serving?

What is the IOC graduation rate?

What is the IOC drop rate (after Day One) due to injury is?

As a woman this sickens me. There is a role for men and women in life and they are not the same nor should they be.

My wife and I agree. Always have, always will.

The United States Marines have ALREADY LOWERED THE STANDARDS with the Physical Fitness Test. For instance, men have to do pull ups while women hang on the pull up bar.

There is one standard for men and another for women.

This is because almost no woman could make it in the USMC without lowering the Physical Fitness Test.

Now they want the Marines to lower the standards AGAIN for Marines that are full time infantry.

There is a reason for the standards. It's not there to be anti-woman, but to save lives which the loony left has a hard time understanding.

Actual pressure or a cabal of half a dozen or less that know how to make their numbers look like thousands?

When is our side going to set up its own “boiler rooms”?

Making rational arguments is futile. Women will become infantrymen and Special Operators no matter how many need to get killed to make a political point. The problem is that standards will be lower across the board, and once the celebrity status is over, very, very few women will be interested signing up to be in the infantry or in special ops.

When I went through Paris Island, there was a large platoon of drop outs and none of them were women (at least not noticeably so) They were held there until discharged. This was early 1951.

When I went through Parris Island in 1981, my platoon started with 80 and graduated 42.

Not sure what it is today but back then, a 50% dropout rate was not unusual in Marine Corps boot camp. So even among men, the bar was set quite high.

I remember the platoon of wash-outs. It would usually take a week or two to process them out so they had to have somewhere to go in the meantime. I think they spent most of the day picking up cigarette butts on the parade decks and such.

They also had PCP and CCP platoons. The PCP platoon was where you went if you failed a PFP (Physical Fitness Test) and you had 4-6 weeks to get in shape or you were washed out for good.

The CCP platoon was correctional custody for those who tried deserting or had discipline issues. You did not want to be there! I used to pull guard duty in those barracks (as they were not allowed to guard themselves) and they would have them completely disassemble their racks (beds) each morning and stack them up against a wall. They would then have to completely re-assemble them at night after a day of mostly hard labor.

Well its great to know Parris Island was still doing a top notch job 30 years later. Hate to mention this but you went through PI 30 years after me, imagine how old I am (and you thought you were getting old, lol)

“Dempsey is a drunk.”

Like so many, in every sector of government employment, he’s worried about his retirement, and for good reason. However, he really is being given an excellent opportunity to lead by example and stand firm in the principles that made the USMC’s history so outstanding. Unfortunately such is not to be the case; he is failing miserably! Another falls for pension over principles.

“Soldiers will die because of this PC Crap.”

Of course! I mean after all one can’t make an omelette without breaking a few eggs! It is for the common good after all!

What are you, some kind of independent thinker that believes in strong defense?

Lowering of standards is one of the primary reasons our country is circling the drain. I believe it’s an actual strategy being used by the infiltrators whose mission IS to destroy our once great nation. What’s that cliché? “If it weren’t for double standards, liberals would have no standards at all.” Just wait, if the lower standards are fully approved for women, it won’t be long before the sodomite girly-men start their whining about it being too difficult as well. Perhaps the U.S. Just needs another branch of the military comprised completely of sodomites, lesbians, and fag-hags. I’m not sure what they’d do, but at least if that demographic had a place to go they wouldn’t degrade the standards and exceptionalism of our military.
