Anyone here watching Mark Burnett's AD? (Story about apostles and early church)
What are your impressions of the series so far?
Gave up cable after hurricane Gustav, and haven’t missed it since.

Yes, I’ve been watching.
It has some problems - the main one being you can’t tell from the story whether they are doing some kind of flash-back, or if this is real time.
But there have only been two episodes so far - I am not sure that even with ACTS they can come up with ten more episodes.
It seems OK... but I recently watched Killing Jesus on Youboob and it was much, much better.
I haven’t yet. Is it any good?
Yes. I think they’re doing a pretty good job (Mary at the empty tomb was must see TV for me). Tonight will have Pentecost - we’ll see how they handle that.
I’ve watched one episode. I like the story but I never like who Burnett picks to play for the roles. It’s somehow hard to care about them. Some are downright annoying.
It is not too bad.
Once they come out, you can get most of the big series DVDs from the library.
It’s actually very good!
Much better than O’Reilly’s “Killing Jesus”.
Gotta miss it tonight, with too much class prep to do.

Parthians and Medes and Elamites and residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya belonging to Cyrene, and visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes, Cretans and Arabians—we hear them telling in our own tongues the mighty works of God.” And all were amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, “What does this mean?” But others mocking said, “They are filled with new wine.”

I’m with you - the characters and action are hardly compelling. They’re going on and on about stuff nobody really cares about.

To me it was almost unrecognizable as the Book of Acts.
Reasonably good from what I’ve seen.
For the most part, it is fairly accurate. This may be more information than many have ever received concerning the Bible. Hopefully it will encourage them to want to learn more.
I like it.
