Whatever happened to standing your ground and punching the bully in the nose?

Nothing, in my opinion. When I teach anti-bullying in my school, I tell kids quite explicitly that they have every right to defend themselves, and we have rules in place that make it clear that self defence is allowed - unlike a lot of schools unfortunately.

Why teach our kids to grow up to be candy-assed sissies?

I certainly don't want to teach that to kids - but these types of programs aren't about that. This program is directed at stopping the bullies from bullying - not stopping the targets from responding.

There's nothing manly about hurting the weak. Exactly the opposite in fact.
