The suspect arrested Thursday (April 16) and booked with attempted first-degree murder of a St. Charles Parish sheriff's deputy, was fired from the Transportation Security Administration for "unbecoming conduct" and was previously arrested and booked with domestic violence and aggravated assault, St. Charles Sheriff Greg Champagne said.
The suspect, 58-year-old John Pau Devillier, is a native of St. Charles Parish. However, authorities say his most recent residence was a room at the Value Place Motel in Gulfport, Miss.
"We are at this time thoroughly looking into Mr. Devillier's past," Champagne said. "We have learned, what I can positively corroborate about him, is that he was terminated from the TSA for conduct unbecoming in the year 2013. He also was divorced in 2013."
The arrests also happened in 2013 in Mississippi, Champagne said. St. Charles investigators were in Gulfport on Thursday in an attempt to learn more about Devillier.
While Devillier appeared "irate" at the scene of the shooting, Champagne said during a press conference Thursday that they have no report of a history of mental illness.
"We're going to back track, talking to family members, in Gulfport where we already are, and so we will be finding out more about that, but we have no diagnosis of mental illness or commitment or anything of that nature at this point," Champagne said.

The last thing an LEO would expect directing traffic in a school zone would be getting shot.
Wow. He was FIRED from the TSA.
He must be one SERIOUS low-life criminal loser to have lost a job with that outfit.
Maybe he wasn’t enough on the ball.
Attitude problem, anger issues, living in a motel. Sounds like a divorce-in-progress.

It was probably a private issue.
He might have. I am not sure what is happening with the TSA. I went through the TSA checkpoint, for an international flight out of San Francisco last Tuesday. I was ready to strip half way down, when the only thing the lady said, was put your cell phone in your carry on bag and walk through the metal detector. I don't know if this is the standard way they do it now, but at least that is how they did it for me. Maybe I just look innocent. 😎😋😂🙈🙉🙊
I see what you did there.
