While it is good to remember those who died please do not mind if I remember someone who survived.

Johannes Jacobus “John” Bos was the only survivor of the Holocaust of his family from Rotterdam. He was imprisoned at Theresienstadt and after seeing Hell I knew him years later as a gentle and wonderful man. I was deeply saddened when I heard he had died and the world is a lesser place without him.

I meet and was a friend to a woman that was in the death camps. She was not a Jew but still held her sister in her arms as she died. Her family’s crime was hiding Jews from the Germans. She would come and speak at the SOE for a week at a time in Switzerland. She had tea in the afternoon in the formal living room everyday. She would always send someone to find me no matter were I was working in the school. There I would set with sawdust in my hair and work clothing and have tea. I think G_D told her I was a Jew as she spoke to me as if I were a son. I never told anyone at the school about my family being a Jewish.
