About 14 years ago, I had a bad experience attempting to meet an on-line girlfriend in Oregon. On a miserable, rainy January day, I drove 180 miles from Seattle to Portland, to a non-existent address. I felt like a chump, but at least I wasn’t bashed with a baseball bat.

“During questioning, she reportedly told detectives that she carried out the vicious attack because she didn’t want to be Campbell’s girlfriend.” When I was in college, I once drove 8 hours, only to have my girlfriend's mother tell me her daughter was dumping me. I think I would have preferred a whack with a bat.
