Best of luck to you.
Picked mine up from the CPA who insisted I was getting a hefty refund. I insisted I should be paying.
I hate when they breeze through the paperwork with and you don’t get a chance to really evaluate them. Hint: I haven’t gotten a refund in 5 years, let alone a refund for several grand!
Got home and started looking through the documentation...OMG! It is a total freakin’ screwed up mess. Called them about several obvious mistakes I saw without even going to the spreadsheet I provided them! Failed to take the home office deduction. Hell, they even added a subcontractor to my expense column?! WTH! I don’t see a 1099 waving around in the packet!
I hope they get this all corrected and at least filed by the deadline. OH...they’ve had all my paperwork since March 30th too boot. It isn’t like I waltzed in there yesterday with it.
Mad, mad, mad....
Once they get if filed I’ll run it over to H & R Block to review and amend as needed.
Thank you. And you the same. So sorry about the screw ups. Post a follow up when they get it sorted out.
Mine isn’t complicated. I’d have to seek outside help if it were, but still a pain. Wish the whole system would be redone. It’s so far out of control.
I know my business better than anyone, my CPA does not. A CPA has no incentive to get things right, and they every incentive to rush through your return as fast as possible.
This is why I now use Turbo Tax Home & Business and do my business taxes myself, and no longer use CPA (except for occasional error checking.)
I also stopped consulting with a CPA for tax questions, since I can get an answer to just about any tax question much more quickly, cheaply, and accurately from Google.
