A little factoid about armadillos is that they are not native to North America, but come from South America and only made it into Mexico when the Isthmus of Panama was formed. Eleven species live in Paraguay.

“The nine-banded armadillo reached the United States, primarily in the south-central states (notably Texas), but with a range that extends as far east as South Carolina and Florida, and as far north as Nebraska and central Indiana. Their range has consistently expanded in North America over the last century due to a lack of natural predators.”

Lone Star Beer had a great series of commercials about their beer being raided by giant armadillos. I can’t find an archive of the best of them, though.
