There is a principle in physics, called the Principle of Self-Consistency. This principle states that if you could go back in time (by whatever method), you would not be able to change anything.
How many times has this principle been tested?

How many times has this principle been tested? Zero! That's why it's a respected Principle, but not a Law. It's something that makes sense, and is interesting to discuss, but as of now it carries little scientific weight. Here's a good layman's read on the Principle:
