What was so wrong with making a pitcher prove he WAS A MAN?

Bull Shot.
The NL is REAL baseball.
The AL not so much.

Interleague play, the DH and moving the Astros to the AL were all a big part of my going from rabid baseball fan to barely following the sport at all.

I remember when Sandy Koufax hit a home run. He was the worst hitting pitcher in baseball. Despite having 4 no-hitters he always said the home run was his greatest achievement in his career. That’s what baseball is all about.

They’ve already ruined things with the stupid second-chance wildcard in the payoffs. Leave the damn game alone. Quit screwing up a century of beloved American tradition.

Pretty much all pitchers suck at batting in both leagues.

Do away with the hated DH and simply take the pitcher out of the batting rotation. You shouldn’t do that but its a pretty good compromise between the leagues.

Pitchers can’t hit because they don’t make them hit.
Remember, Babe Ruth was a pitcher. He switched to outfielder because HE wanted to play every day.

New commissioner Rob Manfred has been looking at the major leagues recent dip in offense as something that is troublesome, and while that notion is debatable, what is very clear is that an easy way to boost scoring would be to take 15 pitchers spots out of batting orders and replace them with men paid exclusively to swing bats. Bzzzt! Wrong! I checked the rosters and most teams have 12 pitchers with an occasional 11 or 13. The NL does not carry one more pitcher per team than the AL. The DL is split about evenly between infielders and outfielders, so you aren't dumping a relief pitcher to add a DH. You are dumping your utility infielder or extra outfielder.

It’s about time - the only thing good about a picture hitting is that it is always a good time to go get a beer.

I’m sitting at the Braves home opener. The Brave’s starter laid down a perfect sac bunt in the second inning. If you eliminate that sort of thing, you kill much of the interest in the game.

It was inevitable, the use of the DH for the pitcher has filtered all the way down to the HS level. Nobody wants to see someone hit in MLB who hasn't hit since the 8th grade.
