A giraffe at Norways Kristiansand zoo was gored to death on Monday by an eland antelope as horrified adults and children looked on.
It was very traumatic. People were crying everywhere, Øivind Hansen, who witnessed the killing, told VG. His daughter Sissel Finstad, 23, had come home crying from the zoo.
It was a horrible experience for everyone who saw it. It has really affected people, he said.
Per Arnstein Aamodt, the zoo's chief executive, confirmed that the giraffe, which had been stuck in a fence, had been killed by the antelope.

LOL, I was just going to mention that!
“Circle of Life, kiddies! The world’s a better place for it! ...Oh. Wait...Oops!”
I thought they said lion chow cost to much.
Unusual for the two to even interact. Herbivores tend to ignore each other, especially since giraffe are the best lookouts of all in the wild. Safety in numbers usually keeps the herbivores happy enough in each others’ company.
You're probably thinking of another zoo.
Cue the song “the circle of life”.
The animal kingdom is occasionally brutal, " he said. "But we dont think its nice that so many of our visitors, large and small, got an involuntary insight into this today."
I'm thinking that it can't be really harmful, either, for people to see some of the brutality of the animal kingdom. Teaching people an unrealistic view of animals living in peaceful harmony in the forest leads to animal rights activism, vegetarianism, and other pathologies.
There is no excuse to be cruel to animals, but there is also no excuse for letting people believe fantasies about animals, either.
Yep...if they don't know that by now, all of the muzzies up there in Scandinavia will teach them well!
So now everyone is traumatized! That’s why you shouldn’t keep giraffes in Norway.
In Africa, no one would’ve batted an eye.
Imagine all the help that giraffe would have received if it'd had been stuck in Iraq!
This reminds me of the Swedish flamingo massacre of 2011:
