Very good points. Thanks.
They would be non starters for me too. Listening to Beck this morning, he seems all excited that Paul is now in the race. Based on his history I’d assume they’d be non starters for him too. But then maybe they are only basing their enthusiasm on his entry speech.
At a time when we need a stronger military and are worried about too few troops, Rand Paul supports Obama in wanting to reduce it, and the number of GIs.
Those liberals that you claim that Paul is winning over, are being won over by his being weak on national defense, and abortion, gay marriage, and social conservatism.
In other words, a liberal winning liberals, that isn’t exactly the kind of “growth” we want, or as Paul calls it, “evolving”.
I never said "weak on national defense". I said to make sure that the citizenry knows that the military option is the last, not the first, option. Do you lie in every sentence?
I never mentioned abortion or gay marriage when discussing Rand Paul. Do you lie in every phrase of every sentence?
If you're too much of a moron to realize that there are many people who would vote for a limited-government conservative who explained his positions clearly, and refuted the MSM spin and lies, then there's not much left to say to you. You'd rather label them, ignore them, insult them and go on losing elections. Hopefully, buffoons like you aren't on the Cruz campaign team.
And I said he will not be elected, and takes his ideology too far. That does not mean that he must be ostracized, insulted, and cast out... nor does it mean that a limited-government conservative must ignore the opportunities to win over potential voters who have the same basic philosophy (less government in our lives).
Rand Paul is a nutjob likes his dad.
I didn’t say that you called them liberals, but they are, that is why I called them liberals.
You keep defending Paul and his weak on defense and his winning liberals by being liberal.
I mention gay marriage and abortion and social issues, you obviously have Paul to sell, and don’t want them mentioned.
Are you another one of these nasty libertarians that is going to keep praising Paul’s efforts to move the GOP left?
Yes Paul and all rinos/libertarians that want to move the party left and defeat conservatism, need to be ostracized and what you call “insulted”.
Winning over new voters because they want to weaken the military and have abortion and gay marriage, and oppose conservatism, is not something that is praise worthy and a winner for conservatism.
Support Cruz, oppose Paul.
Norquist doesn’t like Christie and Paul?
Even before this article was posted, I knew the one person I would never vote for is Chris Christie.
This merely cements that.
My problem with the NRA is that we (I am a life member) always claim to be on the forefront of pro-gun issues but really aren't. The Heller case that rolled back GC in Washington DC is a good example. That case began with the Cato institute. The NRA is on record that they did not want to take a case to court. Why?! That case now forms the basis for all legal challenges to gun ownership. For all the clout and money in the NRA there seems to be a desire to not rock the boat.
You have a better organization to support?
I support the NRA. After Heller, they went into Chicago and SF and mopped up using Heller as the foundation. Props there. But with all that size and money they should be incubating cutting edge stuff day and night. What are they doing right now to repeal GCA '68? Not just hold a line here or there, but full blow repeal? It has the capacity to do so much more, that it is frustrating when it doesn't. Other orgs: the Cato Institute, and the Second Amendment Foundation.
A day without a circular firing squad here on FR is like a day without sunshine!
I would prefer Krispy Kreme to Jebbie myself. NO Jebbie for me! I also sat out the George P. race in 2014.
This is a conservative forum, shooting down liberalism is not a “circular firing squad”, it is conservative politics fighting the good fight.
If you don’t like the way Romney and Paul, and Jeb Bush are treated here, it sounds like you are at the wrong place, not us.
American Conservatve Union score for Rand Paul: 100%
So? Rand has made it clear that he is no conservative and is campaigning as a liberal/libertarian
Pro-choice, weak on marriage, against social conservatism and weak on the military.
We don’t need a poison pill infecting our primary.
By doing crazy stuff like voting conservative all the time
By his statements and his positions, and his campaigning, he is telling us what his true politics are, not what originally got him elected.
Do you think he is opposed here because he is too conservative?
