It may be time to light the lights.
ABC is filming a proof of concept for a revival of The Muppets, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
The Big Bang Theory co-creator Bill Prady is co-writing the script for a pilot presentation that sources say could be unspooled at May's upfront presentation to Madison Avenue advertisers. Sources tell THR that the project, if all goes well, could go straight to series.
Bob Kushell (Anger Management, 3rd Rock From the Sun) will also co-write and is attached to serve as showrunner, with Wilfred's Randall Einhorn attached to exec produce and direct the presentation. ABC's Muppets revival is being produced by ABC Studios and The Muppet Studios, which Disney owns. The presentation is set to film next weekend on the Disney lot in Burbank with some of the original Muppet performers returning.
Sources say the concept for the presentation includes the regular cast of characters created by Jim Henson Kermit the Frog, Fozzie Bear, Gonzo and Animal, among others gathering at ABC Studios for a meeting about the new Muppet Show. However, the show won't move forward unless Miss Piggy signs on, and her current relationship with frequent love Kermit is on the rocks, preventing the show from getting off the ground. Early plans call for two celebrity cameos including Miss Piggy's current co-star as well as new roles including Fozzie's girlfriend and her parents.

Remember Rowlf?
My wife recently got the first 2 seasons on DVD for a nostalgic view and they’re great.
I remember as a kid being at my Dad’s parents and all 3 generations of us watching it.
The world could use the simple joy that the Muppets can bring to TV.
Heaven help us if the leftists get to them first.
Ping
Back in the late sixties on board ship in rough seas, more than once I observed a seaman standing watch on the bridge replaced by another. When I asked where the first was the answer commonly was “he’s gone looking for Rowlf.” Of course sometimes he was looking for Rowlf in the bucket securely tethered to starboard or port wing.
Look for a show with default gay muppets, a transgender muppet, and “It’s Pat” your androgynous host. Oh and the two old balcony guys are now even more pervy looking.
Episode 1. Beeker comes out of the closet. Not like we didn’t see it coming. Dr Bunson Honeydew tries to cure him and a hoarde of LGBT rights muppets bury him in pizza.
You have seen the muppets, right?
They have been leftists since Jim Henson stuck his hand up the Pig’s butt.
Rowlf was my favorite.
What I find amazing is that since my 2-year-old became olde enough to appreciate the Muppet Show, I have been telling everyone that the time is now for a comeback... and here they come!
So folks... who should they get as stars, if they can get the best picks?
They have to go with multi-talented.
Jennifer Lawrence? Jimmy Kimmel? Jimmy Fallon? Lindsey Sterling? Kaley Cuoco? Mayim Bialik? Ed O’Niell? Sofia Vergara? Eric Stonestreet? Jennifer Lopes? Simon Cowell? Lucy Liu? Laurie Holden? High Laurie? Jason Segal? Neil Patrick Harris? Alyson Hannigan? Jim Cavazeil? Taraji Henson (confuse people)? Bradley Cooper? Sienna Miller? Mila Kunis? Katy Perry? Meg Trainor? Ariana Grande? Idina Menzel? John Legend? Pharrel Williams? Taylor Swift? Elie Goulding?
The original Muppet Show was an absolute riot - one of the all-time funniest shoes ever. I’m sure any modern remake will be total PC crap - I won’t waste time on it.
I’d like to see a new “Hee Haw”.
Couldn't find one for Miss Piggy:
Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady created Two and a half Men and Big Bang Theory. I figure the new muppets will be swearing up a storm and having sex with other muppets and guest stars....
I love the Muppets.
Before the Muppets were Kukla, Fran, and Ollie. I loved them.
So original, Hollywood.
