I cringe a little when I hear about the “Greatest Generation”. I would never disparage them but those who went to Nam served just as honorably and got far less gratitude for it.
Before I was 18, I had a whole bunch'a life in-putted that took away anything called childhood innocence ... by 19 I was in deep conversation with guys that had returned from Nam and had some pretty serious things to say ... by 20 I was political and knew of names like Robert McNamarra and some opinions that made sense to me ... blacks tellin' me they had no beef with the yellow guys 'cause they still had problems with white guys ... by 21, I was on my own and struggling to make sense of life
Now I'm an old fart on a local school board and I'm doin' my DAMNDEST to manafest the accusation that the NEA destroyed my America
Kids today have no clue about American history, have no clue what a Republican is nor a Democrat, but they know all about socialism (by indoctrination, not by title) and will vote in just a few months (almost 18)
It's my turn to fight
